As a restaurant that depicts "class" and "demeanour" i couldnt see anything further from the truth. My review is based purely on customer experience via the staff (the manager to be precise) to which was at an appalling standard, and one can see this for themselves on the recent trip advisor review i left. The response from management was somewhat childish and insulting, despite us spending around £250 in this restaurant, i have had a reply to basically say that we are raging alcoholics because we requested a prosecco brunch which they had advertised on their menu and they are persistently denying they never advertised??
The professionalism of this comment is very low and not something i would expect from a restaurant in such a high class area. As a response to your comment, i would like to firstly say, that we got the "bottomless brunch" idea from your menu (spend £21.50 on food and add £15 for unlimited prosecco to be precise was your offer) Secondly, when we rang up to confirm this and explained IN DETAIL that it would definitely be drinks included, it was your staff member who agreed. So you cannot put the fault on us by saying that he didnt understand and simply thought we said brunch??
As for going to Avenue instead, which believe me, i would have loved to have done. I think you are forgetting the fact that it was New Years Eve, and unfortunately every single place, except for your restaurant was fully booked. Maybe you should have a long deep hard think as to why your restaurant only had us and a handful of others booked when everyone else is full. As a person who works in customer service, i can assure you taking a defensive attitude and blaming the customer to be wrong/mistaken/it never happened is in no way a way to get people to come to your restaurant and by the looks of it, you could do with the business!)
As for it being a revenge attack on trying to get free booze?? I hardly think that is the case when we ordered two bottles of wine and cocktails??
So id like to thank you for your sarcastic reply to what was a very truthful account of an awful experience at this place. Just a simple apology that you clearly got it wrong and stopped advertising the brunch after i had booked would have sufficed...but unfortunately you had to continue your streak of denial and then make rude comments about the customer to top it off. Not very professional or polished for such a high standard restaurant...
Happy New Year to yourself and i look forward to...
Read moreI used to love visiting here when I lived down south, recently returned and found out that there were new owners from the last time I visited.
Reluctantly I decided to give it a go as I thought not too much could have changed since the old staff kept their jobs. Oh I was wrong.
French onion soup, a classic that can't go wrong. The appearance of the dish was abysmal. Dirty dish water mixed with a bucket of grease, the aroma was worse the onions were clearly past their best and even drowning them in an oil/dishwater solution couldn't save them.
I complained and they sent for the owner as he was present at the time, after about 10 minutes of sitting there not eating and feeling rather uncomfortable as others were looking, a man introduced himself as "Mr Anderson, the owner here" I can only tell you what I thought was soup Mr Anderson clearly thought it was a bath tub. Hair and skin had more grease than my meal.
All in all, avoid it. You'd get better quality food and better service at the...
Read moreAn awful experience and not one that I would wish upon anyone. The owner stood at the bar as a chaotic service ensued, blaming everyone but himself. Locals were treated like every day customers and we faced an eternal wait time for our orders. As if that wasn't bad enough- prices were increased as we waited and the owners son even attempted to sell dodgy Macron fleeces to increasingly angry diners. We ended up going to the Vegan place down the road- thank you again for the faultless service Mr Vince! We walked by the restaurant later to find the place soulless and empty, one member of staff threw their apron down and sat in the middle of the street, I asked them if they were feeling okay, they turned around to me, laughed and smiled, "It's over, the end of service... It'z bin dun'...
