Had the most wonderful time on this tour. We unfortunately did not catch our tour guides name but she mentioned that she loved the national portrait gallery and was phenomenal. I highly recommend visiting if you have a little over an hour to kill -this is a perfect Sunday outing. So interesting, beautiful and impressive. We were very lucky to get a rather small group at 3pm on a Sunday. They also mentioned that they are only open on Sundays because the building is used for offices during the week which was very good to know. I think this tour is more than worth the price, it is so thorough and interesting and all the staff are so helpful and kind. I would love to come back. Fascinating history to the building through the ages, and we are so fortunate not only that it has been so beautifully restored, but that the public is allowed to visit. Read moreEnjoyed the informative guided tour of this Georgian townhouse in St. James, which, apparently, is only available Sundays and the only way one can visit the townhouse unless it is hired as a venue. The light fixture in the central stairway that previously decorated a Venetian Doge's barge is noteworthy in its history and how it was repurposed. Other design features such as the Palm Room are memorable. The restoration done by RIT about forty years ago remains successful.
