Let me start off by saying that I know the owner will feel the need to answer and justify himself, but keep in mind that I'm just trying to objectively describe my experience at his restaurant. There's no malice behind this review. Let me start from the good: - The food: spectacular Indian food. Especially the pistachio lamb is highly recommended. Now to the bad: - Cleanliness: as soon as we were seated at our table, I noticed the wall on our side being very dirty from food. I suggest cleaning the walls as well as you do clean the tables and seats. - The service: I'll be real, I'm still weirded out by how we were treated. I notice a few other comments about rude staff and I must admit I think exactly which server they refer to. I'll try to describe what we had to deal with in detail so that other clients will know what to be weary of. Firstly, the east Asian looking server was very very sweet and friendly, so this is not about him. We had a bad experience with a middle aged server that looked like he's the manager. As soon as we entered and said we don't have a booking, he made a face at us and immediately made us feel uncomfortable and unwanted. I still have no idea why, as the restaurant half emptied five minutes after we were sat. After that we were given the drinks menu, which we are always very happy about as in our country we are never offered mocktails with dinner. We were told nothing about the bar being closed on Sundays. Which lead to an uncomfortable confrontation when this server asked us about drinks. He said and I quote:"I'll check, but I don't think we can do that today" He NEVER checked and just came back five minutes later expecting us to have chosen something else to drink. Why was the drink menu even given to us? Why didn't they say the bar was closed? Why was he so annoyed at us, making us feel even more awkward and uncomfortable? Then, he asked us about starters. I believe. I still have no idea. BECAUSE I DON'T SPEAK FLUENT ENGLISH AND HE HAS AN ACCENT. I just looked at him confused when he asked me a question and instead of repeating he made a face and said he will be back later. Then, when we actually did order, he asked me if I can handle spicy food. I tried to joke around saying yes but not too too spicy 😁 but he again just made a face of annoyance. The food was great, not too spicy for my taste buds at all. Honestly the whole experience was just uncomfortable. He wasn't outright mean or anything, but didn't make us feel welcome at all. Which is why I'm giving three stars. Was it prejudice? Hate of tourists? A long day? The lack of a booking? Who knows what annoyed him! But whatever it was, it made our experience at the restaurant not a positive one.

Decent food but arrogant staff. The restaurant has a one main dish per person policy which is deceptively printed on the last page of the menu. We knew what we wanted (starters) so didn't get to that page, something that could happen to anyone?? On asking where the policy is mentioned because the waiter didn't inform us of that when we were ordering just the starters, the lady at the billing counter rudely said 'how can you not check the last page of the menu?'. This is misleading and downright disrespectful. The restaurant can have their policies but the staff should make sure the customer is acquainted with them or at least make them apparent while ordering instead of being rude to the customer later and make it an unpleasant experience. —————————————————————————— On response to the owner reply 15/08/2024 'You are clearly blinded by ego and can't see what I have written. The waiter did not inform us of the policy when we were ordering so we said we'll decide later. He did mention that the kitchen will get busy but no mention of this stupid policy. You need to check your face in the mirror first and your bigoted attitude towards a certain community speaks volumes about yourself. It shows in your comments too. You may forget your roots but you will never be who you are trying to be. Maybe print ' it's the customer's responsibility to read the full menu' on the first page instead of deceiving them. I can clearly see where the rudeness and arrogance in your staff comes from. Keep it to yourself. Be a better human first, understand what it means to be transparent before preaching about ethics. —————————————————- Edited 17/08/2024 Only a foolish businessman can disrespect someone’s hard earned money even if it’s £25. In business £1 is also valuable. And by the way I paid , you didn’t give any free food, your rude attitude deserved no money so £25 pounds is also a lot for that. You needed a reminder to be a better human. Arrogance usually leads to downfall.

Step into Indian Gourmet, a charming and cozy little Indian restaurant that boasts the best cocktails you'll ever taste! As you walk in, the aroma of spices and herbs fill the air, giving you a hint of the culinary delights that await you. But it's the cocktails that steal the show here - each one crafted with the perfect blend of ingredients and spices, creating a tantalizing experience for your taste buds. You simply cannot leave Indian Gourmet without trying their Indian chai cocktail, a unique blend of tea aroma with gin that's sure to leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. And if you're looking for something refreshing, their cucumber cocktail is an absolute must-try, with its cool and crisp flavors that instantly refresh your senses. As for the food, the starters are a feast for the senses, with momos, chicken chilli, and squid dishes that will leave you wanting more. The mains are good, but the real standout is the baingan ka saalan - a flavorful vegetarian dish that's a must-try. Pair it with their Malai naan, and you're in for a treat. And when it comes to dessert, Indian Gourmet does not disappoint. Their gazar halwa is a decadent, sweet and nutty delight, while the gulab jamun is perfectly soft and soaked in syrup - a dessert that will make your taste buds dance with joy! Just a headsup, there might be delays in getting your order as the staff seems to be limited!
