TAS was an experience that I’ll never forget. It has an open setting where you can look how your food is made. I loved the transparency. The manager was so lovely and gave us a warm welcome. She was thoroughly checking us if we needed anything or not and overall had an amazing positive energy which I really liked. Though dine-in’s are basically a luxury here in London TAS didn’t felt like one. Firstly, they were top notch when it came to cleanliness. I even loved their toilets which was so amazing, they had scented candles and it was super clean. Sometimes a place is very good but the toilet kind of sucks but that was not the case with TAS. I loved the ambience as the moment I entered the place. We took a bit of time to understand the menu and ordered Humus (Houmous) from the starters, Tavuk Sis from the grill section and a Cevizli Domatesli Salata for Salad. My Syrian friend said that the Humus tasted just like how her Aunt used to make it and even I felt like I’ve never had a Humus like this before. It was stupendous. The Tavuk sis which is a grilled chicken was nice too, I had the luxury of having couscous for the first time and it was the best thing I’ve ever tried. The Salad was great too, I am not allergic to nuts so for me it did wonders in my mouth. I almost forgot mentioning about the fluffy complimentary bread that they give. A bit of Humus with the bread is ‘Inanilmaz’. We wanted to try more but had no room left for anything. I will definitely come back for the Baklava and the other items in the menu. Our overall bill was also not that much. It was within 40 pounds for two people. So, I believe that is quite affordable. The only reason I’m taking away one star is because of their chairs. As a person with serious back pain I can’t stand chairs which doesn’t have a good back support. I mean aesthetically it looks good but to support my back it did gave me a lot of uneasiness. Overall, I was genuinely happy as my stomach and heart was filled with joy. I hope they keep their standards high like this. Shoutout to the magicians in the kitchen. I am definitely coming...
Read moreBooked a table with Ahmed who promised to put us by the window after I told him we will have lunch after my daughter’s graduation on Friday, that took place at the Royal Festival Hall. He also agreed to look after us and offer a treat too. Ahmed was polite and helpful over the phone. When we arrived around 1:30 he was not there and the lady waitress wanted to put us on a different table but I had to insist on sitting by the window the weather was about 27degrees We ordered the food for 7 people 6 + 1 child menu for £254.97 we found the bill quite high but came to understand the reason behind it was the confusion in their pricing that any set menu for 2 is actually per person which I never seen anywhere else. Misleading and not honest place at all. The quality of the food is not that great for the highly priced dishes. We asked for some lemon slices and we got 3 very thin slices. The food lacked taste and that special something about it. It was after we paid the huge bill that they offered us a cup of tea but the taste was a tea bag not a proper Turkish tea. It was only when we were about to leave they offered us Baklawa. So all promises from Ahmad to look after us and have a treat for my daughter we’re not met. Or met very late and not in a happy genuine way. The waitresses are grumpy not welcome nor smiling, very dry Treatment from the 3 members of staff we death with. So disappointed with the choice of restaurant. I was not after freebies but more after a nice service where you feel they really care… no one knew really the occasion we were celebrating nor anyone congratulated my daughter on her celebration. I Do Not Recommend...
Read moreLast at Tas maybe ten years ago. And, finding ourselves in Borough (London Bridge) we sought it out last night, driven by memories! Our memories did not let us down! No expert in Anatolian Cuisine I nonetheless love eating good food, well prepared and served well! It was delicious! We'll be back! The price? About £50 for two, including drinks and "service charge" - a maneuver in the industry which we always regret: without it our tip would have been greater than the charge, to reflect the service given). Leaving that one niggle aside we had a great meal great value and a lovely end to a lovely day! I recommend Tas. It does what it does very well. And has done so for as long as we've known of it. And I beg them to abandon the "service charge" - if it costs that much to put the food in front of me the menu price should cover it. If the staff need it to make a living the management should pay them properly. If it's a trick to make menu prices appear lower than the table price (or the prices of the competition) it is on the spectrum of wilful theft. The industry (which I have worked in and loved) needs to address this bit...
