Katsu Shoku, Pan-Asian Restaurant, Catford — Restaurant in London

Some months ago I gave this restaurant 5 stars for everything. My visit last Saturday was devastating. Another change of ownership znd very poor service. Took 3 attempts for the waiter to understand my poppadom order and the fact that I only wanted one beer as I was on my own! I then got hassled for my order and couldn't order because they kept bringing me the dessert and the drinks menu! Finally got the main menu but due to the atrocious lighting (main restaurant one light above entrance and one light in each front window) I had to use the torch on my mobile phone! Ordered Chicken Jalfrezi with Okra and Mushroom rice. The okra was gloopy. The rice was acceptable but the chicken presentation was awful, no flavour at all and the chicken tasted of nothing and I would suggest it was boiled! The latest current new owners obviously wish the business to fail. This restaurant has enjoyed great popularity on the past, but the future is grim. I visited on a Saturday evening the place was empty the whole evening up until the time I left at 9.40pm. As I crossed the road to my car the sound of the shutters going down plus the lights being turned off...

We had a takeaway last night, the first time we've been here. The staff were very pleasant. We were pleasantly surprised to have 10% discount for cash, especially since takeaway is already cheaper than eating in. We had Chicken Chutney Merry: this is a sweet dish, not at all hot (not even medium). Chicken was tender and sauce delicious and complemented the Lamb Madras we had with it. The Madras sauce was tasty and satisfyingly hot. The lamb was tough and could well do with being in smaller pieces with a longer cooking time. We will be back because, although not excellent, we want to try more of their dishes, we like to support local businesses and sometimes we want a change from our favourite kebab from Time Kebab on...

NEVER EVER AGAIN! Placed and order on 30th September and was supposed to be delivered between 20.55 and 21.15. I am writing this review now at 22.22 and my food HAS NOT ARRIVED YET! Called restaurant from my phone once and I’ve been told my food was dispatched and would have been with me in 10/15 mins. Called back after 20 mins and they blocked my number! Asked my husband to call on my behalf and he was once again told that the food was dispatched and would have been with us in the next 10/15 mins. He called them again after 15 mins and they blocked his phone number too!!! Never again!
