A Taste of Algeria in the Heart of London – Khamsa Restaurant For my birthday, my husband surprised me with a visit to Khamsa Restaurant, and it has quickly become my favourite spot in London. If you’ve never had the chance to visit Algeria, this restaurant offers a beautifully authentic experience right here in the city. From the moment you walk in, you are welcomed into the warmth of Algerian culture, thanks to the incredible chef, who takes you through an unforgettable journey of flavours. I started with Shorba, a traditional Algerian soup, and it was simply life-changing—no soup I’ve ever tasted like that. Paired with bourak (an absolute must), a delightful plate of seven fresh salads, and perfectly cooked salmon, the entire meal was extraordinary. Every bite was delicious, and I found myself wishing I had room for more! Thank you so much to the Chef for all his attention. I’ll definitely be making another reservation soon, as there’s still so much more to explore on the menu. If you’re in London, do yourself a favour and experience this little piece of Algeria.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Authentic Gem! I had the pleasure of dining at this cosy Algerian restaurant, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made us feel right at home. The décor is charming, blending traditional Algerian touches with a contemporary feel, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed meal. The food was simply outstanding. Every dish was bursting with rich, authentic flavors that transported me straight to Algeria. We had the couscous with a selection of meat, chicken and merguez. The fish tagine was perfectly tender and aromatic. The couscous was light and fluffy, and the portion sizes were generous. Don’t even get me started on the mint tea and traditional pastries—they were the perfect finish to an amazing meal. Djamal is incredibly attentive, kind and friendly, always happy to explain the dishes and make great recommendations. Whether you’re new to Algerian cuisine or a long-time fan, this place will exceed your expectations. I can’t recommend it enough and will definitely be back!

I attended Khamsa yesterday evening and was met by a very pleasant Djamal. He was very polite and explained the menu perfectly. I asked about what dessert they had and he let me and my boyfriend taste the topping that he would be putting over a home made rice pudding. It had carrot and papaya and it taste amazing. The starters were lovely presented and tasted so good, especially the chickpea starter! We both ordered the chicken with the spinach- every mouthful was so flavoursome! Even though I ate so much I couldnt pass up the dessert I tasted earlier. The bill was very reasonable and they do not charge service charge even though we were given a very good service so we did add to the bill as we thought it was fair. He even said 'good bye Brendan' which I thought was a lovely touch. Khamsa is a great treat and would love to come back!

This is one of those restaurants that I just know the food was done at its very best. And I say it to only a few restaurants. The salmon main with couscous was amazing. I can taste the good olive oil from the fluffy couscous. Salmon was crispy on the outside, with the ginger added slight spiciness, the sauce and the chickpeas .. all the flavors matched perfectly together, I can never get enough of it. You need to try the rice pudding dessert as well. So unique and tasty. I love rice pudding and this is the best I’ve had. The owner Jay is very a highly talented chef. He learned cooking from his mother, and the dishes are tradition with his personal twist. I just love their food so much. Thank you so much for the incredible experience.

I found this hidden gem while looking for Iftar (Ramadan Breaking Fast Meals) places to eat in London. Booked it for an Iftar meal with four of my friends and came here in this quirky Algerian restaurant. Jamal, the owner who’s also our funny and friendly host was very warm and welcoming. He introduced us to an authentic Algerian Iftar meal - Chourba Freek with Bourek. Incredible! It was just mouth watering delicious! The lamb meat ball and fish tagine were great. The best part were the homemade Algerian cakes and mint tea to end the supper. Loved everything about this place, felt very homely. Jamal will take care of you and he sure knows how to look after his customers. Will definitely come here again Insha’Allah soon.
