We have visited this restaurant a few times and promoted in the past among our vegan community and online well as a group as loyal customers. What happened yesterday was incredibly shameful. I had a medical issue of hip joint pain and heavy periods and needed a seat while I awaited the bill and was aggressively pulled by the chair and thrown out after he made me touch the card impolitely to collect payment in the end and did not give the receipt. Everyone around was severely disturbed at this manhandling and the way he spoke rudely and said I should not visit again as he said he doesn't want to see my 'negative energy'. I am a vegan activist, book author and an experienced and acclaimed energy healer and energy teacher for several years with several press features on me.. and he did this without knowing me just because I said that I felt insulted by him telling me in a condescending way about 'why I was sitting and chatting and having a good time instead of totalling up my bill for him'. He said he is the owner and can throw whoever he wants out as it is his premise. I appreciate the restaurant serves vegans as the owner is plant based for health (although he said he is not really in it for animals) and clearly he was staffed low. While I appreciate him working hard alone... the overall attitude towards others was deplorable on this occasion.
The moment I walked in I was made uncomfortable by being questioned why I didn't 'greet the business' when I saw my friends and didn't see anyone outside as he was low staffed and started walking in at 7pm to wish them happy birthday and give them presents. Later on placing orders there were significant delays in serving a salad and a few burnt sweet potato chips to a friend who visited the first time as we were promoting this business to others in the group to boost this business. The friend waited over 2 hours while everyone else ate before her and she expected an apology but received none. She was unhappy. I received the wrong salad but ate it and said it was nice. The falafels were more like hard dough and cumin balls that were shapeless and I will not recommend them as they cannot be called falafel at all. Pastas are mainly boiled pasta or macaroni with very less sauce and veg and none of us liked them. Broccoli was overboiled in the mushroom dish. We liked the cake as usual and the salads and icecream and were ready to pay without complaining as it was very late past 11 pm due to slower service and we were patient and very understanding.
When I went to pay my share the owner again acted like I was a slave and was meant to serve him as he said he expected me to calculate the total and was trying to humiliate me saying why I didn't even know what the exact names of what I ordered was and the prices and why I was 'just sitting and chatting and having a good time' instead of calculating the bill. I didn't know which salad he served me as it was the wrong one and the size was unclear and I didn't know his tax rate and hence was not able to calculate my own bill. In any case making your customer feel like they should work there and not chat or have a good time is unreasonable...(one of us were serving our friends and bringing food too). We were very kind to him throughout and tolerant.
I politely said I won't be visiting this restaurant again because it was the second time he insulted me as the first was when I walked in indicating I should greet the business and the second was when he said I should calculate the bill instead of sitting and chatting or having a good time (it was a birthday party and I was invited to have a good time).
At this point I sat down as I expected him to tell me the total and collect payment at the table as I had a medical issue and needed a seat. Its then that he showed his true colours and aggressive tendencies as it appeared that he hates people who speak up or don't praise him if treated badly by him as if we were there to serve his needs for admiration and he didn't apologise to my friend either who was...
Read moreA very clean, attentive and intentional service! Everything is made from the best most natural vegan ingredients with a spirit of 'feeding to heal' From the incense burning to the fresh flowers and choice of indoor or outdoor seating, everything about Kimoras felt lovely . Came to have a breakfast meeting. I had banana porridge with a choice of toppings including cranberries, crushed hazelnuts, pumpkin seeds and dates. My fellow guest had oats porridge on a bed of strawberries & home made strawberry syrup . Still talking and inspired by breakfast, we then stayed for lunch; I had a deliciously cooked down seasoned & flavoursome callalooo with lentils and my friend had barbecue mushrooms with spelt pasta .., all the dishes were delicious! After a freshly crushed mango and lime shot and testing our stomachs for a bit we then decided to share a taste of every ice cream, their famous fruit pizza, a coconut mouse type dessert thingy (can't remember the name) and the most delightful slice of chocolate cake!! All in all we came for breakfast, had lunch and almost ended up having dinner there too. We ended with a home brewed natural ginger tea which did the trick on our digestion so we could get off the chair . Words alone don't do this place justice ., I have been back for a smoothie or stew pease or ice cream nearly every day since! You will have to try it...
Read moreI found this gem of a place by accident whilst searching for vegan treats near the Abbey Road Studios and as a vegan, I was really excited. The only thing is, it was due to close so I called the store and the gentleman who answered said if I could come quickly - he would be able to make me what I wanted. I requested a chocolate milkshake and it was fresh and ready when I arrived - and it was DELICIOUS. The gentleman who served me certainly takes pride in his work as he asked me to try it in front of him and said "satisfaction is key" (or something to that effect). I wish they had one of these stores in the Midlands near to where I live but what I do know is, anytime I'm in the ends - I will pay a visit to this beautiful place. Keep up the great work.
PS. The gentleman who served me is a bit of a UK legend - Nafs...
