My daughter and I went there in the evening on saturday 24 August. The food was very good! On the other hand, we did not at all appreciate the behavior of the boy in the room. The latter came to clear my daughter's plate so the latter had not given her authorization and at the same time I had to signal to the waiter so that he would not clear my plate because I was still busy eating . As for the bill, it was a real scam (I shouldn't have told the manager that we came from Brussels). For two dishes accompanied by rice and nan (chicken and lamb cream with red sauce and vegetables) and two drinks, we had to pay 45 pounds (on the menu card it was displayed 10 pounds sterling for each of our menus). When asking the manager why, he gave us a whole bunch of explanations with calculations that had nothing to do with it. When asking for the ticket, the manager did not give us the original ticket which he had already shown us at the time of the bill. He wrote £45 on a piece of paper with the restaurant's seal which he gave to us. Another woman who was eating next to our table with her friend was the victim of the same type of scam. She had to ask the manager to correct the calculation for her addiction. What the latter did by revising the lady's bill downwards. The manager was very embarrassed and completely destabilized! It was clear that the lady did not appreciate what had happened! We are very disappointed and will never return to this restaurant again. We do not recommend that people who want to eat there pay close attention to the price of the menus and when...
Read moreWent to the restaurant with my wife to discover that it was comical and our worst indian food experience of all time. The wife and I have frequented many an eatery and this one was merely farcical. The waiter who served us was very intrusive with his question about where I come from, despite my telling him that I am local. He kept asking where I originally came from because of the way I looked. The food on the other hand was low on salt and tasted bland. Both my wife and myself felt bloated well into the days to come as a result of it unfortunately. The highlight of the experience was when he brought the bill with the prices scrawled on to a piece of paper like that written by a 4 year old. My wife had to add the amounts scribbled on to find out that he was charging 5 pounds extra which he explained as being a service charge. When I confronted him about it, he launched into a tirade about having to pay rent and electric which was ludicrous. He then kept overcompensating by saying that he didn't want my money and that If I paid cash, he would exclude the service charge. From the way he carried himself, I would assume that this gentleman was the owner or a manager because the rest of the staff were rather polite. My recommendation to those in a quandary about going to this restaurant is to continue looking for an alternative. The wife and I were severely vexed by the experience and wish that this happens to no one else. I give...
Read moreNeeded some dinner whilst waiting for a train, had a look at a few local reviews and went for the KC Tandoori, just opposite Kings Cross Station. It was coming up to 5PM and initially quiet with 3 diners, by half five there was a few more in. Staff were friendly and attentive and as you might expect, given the time, service was swift and the hot food delivered in an acceptable time frame. And as for the food - I wasn't disappointed - I always go for a Lamb Jalfrezi on first visit to a restaurant as this give me a baseline. Had the Daal Pakora to start , lovely and crisp, followed by the LJ with a tandoori roti to mop it up. Have to say, it was just great. Punchy though, as a Jalfrezi should be, but if your expecting Amir Kahn, be careful as you might get Deontay Wilder. It would be interesting to try the more traditional hot curries to see where they stand on the heat scale. Washed it down with a couple of Cobra's served from a bottle. London beer prices of course impact the bill, but £31.95 for an evening meal in London is pretty good going I think. Will certainly come here again. I
Whilst reflecting on my meal, and having done the Brick Lane experience, I have to say the food and prices here were excellent. I mulled this over and formulated a slogan:
Capital Food at Provincial Prices.
Highly...
