DON'T FALL FOR IT!
My Fiance and I stopped in for lunch on our trip in London. It was by far our worst experience. To begin with, the service was awful. We waited so long for just water, yet alone anything else. We ordered the tomato soup and bruschetta to start, if you can even call it that. The soup had no flavor and was very bland. Almost watered down taste. The bruschetta was really bad. It was just cherry tomatoes cut in half on nowhere near close to fresh bread. Then they added some dried up mixed greens with nothing on it, next to it. It was awful. It should not be sold as bruschetta cause that's not bruschetta. Where were the rest of the ingredients? Just call it what you sold us, tomatoes and bread. My fiance couldn't eat it. But i was so hungry that I had to try, so I dipped the bread in the soup cause it was too stale to eat on its own. The tomatoes just rolled off. That's why it's diced, comon people. Furthermore, they didn't even bring us plates to eat off. We struggled to eat it off the soup dish.
The main course was the pan-fried chicken with noodles in tomato sauce. Which we both ordered. The chef specialty. There was nothing special about it. The noodles were hard, and the sauce had no flavor at all. The chicken was way overdone. Basically, it tasted so awful that we both had one bite of the meat and noodles and couldn't eat it. We decided at that point to pay our bill and leave. We explained why we wanted the bill, and he mentioned its cooked traditional Italian. There was nothing Italian about this tourist trap but a money grab. I mentioned the noodles are way undercooked, and meat was stiff. He then proceeded to take my fiances fork and poke her meal. At that point, i was so disgusted. He said, " Will cook it more." i mean, if this is the chef specialty, i dont see how taking it back to the kitchen is going to fix this. Plus, we didn't want a scene. We both just wanted to leave. Then, the bill came, and they had the audacity to add a service charge. For what service? Bad service? It was awful service. Tips stand for "to insure proper service " we paid $55.80 which in canadian is over $100. For awful food, service, and not even a discount on the bill.
They only thing good about that meal was the bottle of...
Read moreWent here for breakfast. It was ok, had full English. Expensive for the size, think they probably charge a bit more because of where they are, but you could spend the same money and go to the breakfast club inside St Pancras station which is far far better.
Small breakfast, 1 slice of cold toast, only 1 hash brown, eggs were hard. Quality of ingredients was ok.
A couple of other things that really rubbed us up the wrong way. When you sit down and order, you are offered a fruit yoghurt from a selection brought to the table, which we thought was a nice touch considering we had children with us, only to find it was added to our bill. £2.50 for a basic Aldi yoghurt. We asked for extra toast this came right at the end of the meal, we said thanks but don’t need it anymore…. This was also on the bill. We had a child with us and asked if we could have a sausage, hash brown, and slice of bacon for him. Didn’t give us any bacon, and charged £10 for this (for a sausage and hash brown). Drink order wrong.
There were tourists on the table next to us who asked not to pay the service charge, they were told he had to.
All in all £90 for 3 small breakfasts and a child’s breakfast. This is on par with an average greasy spoons cafe, maybe slightly worse with portion size.
Just not really very good. I reckon a bit of a...
Read moreTerrible Experience - Rude and Racist Behavior I had an incredibly unpleasant experience at Alto Napoli that I feel compelled to share. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with disrespect by an older man at the entrance, wearing a black hat and black apron. As I was trying to look at the menu, he aggressively tried to push me inside, rushing me and insisting I hurry up. When I mentioned I wanted to order takeaway, he showed no patience whatsoever.
The situation took a turn for the worse when he asked me where I was from. I told him I was Italian, and to my shock, he responded by questioning my identity, demanding that I "prove it" by singing the Italian national anthem. He even went so far as to say, “You don’t look Italian at all.” This blatant display of racism left me completely speechless.
To top it off, when I inquired about whether they had tiramisu, this same man aggressively ripped the menu out of my hands and shouted, "Go to McDonald’s, that’s what you can afford!" Such behavior is not only unprofessional but deeply offensive.
I have never experienced such rudeness and discrimination at a restaurant, and I am utterly shocked. This behavior is completely unacceptable, and I would never recommend this place to anyone. I hope this captures the severity of your experience...
