AVOID. Disgusting. I went to the shop last Friday lunch time and bought a sweet chilli wit rice from the menu. Got back to work and starting eating but realised the rice was not cooked properly or old , it was very hard. Some of you may know that one thing you do not want to get food poison of is rice. As you would expect rang the shop , explained the problem but other than come back will give you another one , didn't get much help. As my lunch time is only 45 min , that wasn't possible. So i gave them my name and told them i will come in shop the week after. Went there today and i was met with nothing but rudeness and disappointment. I was offered a replacement meal but as you might expect i wasn't gonna try my luck with their products. This is where the fun started. The Lady / Manager / frustrated person said they do not give refunds WHHHAT i hear you scream ? That's what i said. No refund? I thought this is England , civilised world . Apparently not. I refused to leave , until i got my money back , but they asked for proof. What proof? your proof is in the bin. where it belongs. Check your cctv , 14 jan, around 12-40 , you will see me buying the food , gave you £10 cash. What more proof you want? Well no. D I S G U S T I N G I will contact food health and safety and make an...

Update April 2021. Unfortunately, I have has to edit my previous review and give Kokoro one star. My recent experience was not very good. Long wait, slow service and the oriental manager was very rude. She seems to talk down to her staff and told one of her staff members to move a customer away from the self select area. When I ordered, I had to repeat myself several times. After the order I asked for a fork. She bluntly said to me "Next time you order, ask for one first". Just because she has to turn around and give me a fork she got angry.
I don't understand this. Does she expect me to eat with my hands! Kokoro seem to be getting a bit big for their boots. This has put me off returning.
Previous Review Big lover of Kokoro but is it just me or have portions gotten smaller. They don't even get filled all the way to the top like they use to.
Seems with the smaller portions the novelty of great value for money has gone and this food has become a bit more...
Read moreAbsolutely adore Kokoro ever since I moved to Kingston a few years ago. They’ve recently opened up shop in Surbiton and I’m so glad they have as I live locally and simply cannot fault these guys. The food is fresh, absolutely delicious and the portion size is always generous. They are consistently great with both hot dishes & cold foods (sushi / salads) and 100% worth every penny. It’s a great lunch time spot with plenty of different options to choose from as well as being pretty affordable for a “meal out”. I recently ordered a sushi party platter* for my household for my birthday and it was out of this world! Will continue to eat at Kokoro Surbiton and would encourage anyone who passes by or lives in the area to try their food ASAP!
I specifically requested for salmon sashimi but their original platter includes both...
