Obviously don't set sky high expectations for yourself, and imagine yourself in Nobu, this is a decent local Japanese spot. We are 'just' in Surbiton after all.

Been here twice, and ordered once online (ramen).

For sure I can definitely recommend the lunch sets/ bentos here - good value, the udon (only if you are a fan) and chicken katsu curry were delicious.

The salmon nigris and makis were pretty good. Also had a Dragon roll, however the unagi was in small pieces instead of large chunks - the price was not extortionate however and reflective, so no drama. Dumplings are nice.

The Deliveroo ramen was just OK, but I wouldn't recommend takeaway ramen in any case, I had a bad craving and it was cold / wet outside unfortunately. It's also hard to compete when you can take a fast train to Shoryu in central London for a quick (kinda) fix.

Having said that, still a good alternative to Kokoro in this area! Happy to have you...

My favourite place to eat in Surbiton! The staff are so friendly, and we’ve always had wonderful service. My favourites for a weeknight comfort meal are the kitsune udon, and the fried chicken curry udon. I also love the takoyaki and chicken karaage, both of which are so full of flavour and taste hot and fresh.

For a special dinner, the sushi boat is incredible - such a huge variety of different sushi, presented well, and amazing value when you’re eating as a couple or in a group. Comes so quickly, with salads and miso soup. To finish off, drinks like sake and plum wine are reasonably priced.

A real gem in Surbiton, with unpretentious and relaxed interior. Speedy service when dining in, and food still tastes fresh when...

I discovered this little place by chance and decided to get takeaway (by Deliveroo). I had high expectations due to raving reviews everywhere. I couldn't be more wrong. I ordered a sushi set box but the rice was terrible. Maybe they put too much water when cooking rice?? It was too soft and pressed hard therefore you cannot really see grains. I, in the end, had some fish as sashimi slices as the rice was dreadful. If a sushi restaurant cannot cook rice, it is seriously wrong. It is only this time and I was unlucky? I won't be able to find out as I don't think I will eat their food again. What a shame... If you get sushi from Atari-ya in Norbiton, you will never get a sushi...

I’m a regular at this place, and I must have tried everything on their menu that isn’t raw fish (nothing personal against them, I’m just not a fan). Though, I must admit, it’s the only place I ever had salmon and tuna sashimi. Not bad. But personally, I’m all for their inside-out rolls. Their chicken Katsu curry is amazing too, as their udon. Their eel is quite good, but a little too sweet for my taste. I still have it when I’m having my cravings. I’m also obsessed with their takoyaki. I eat-in and do takeaways. I think I order at least once a week from here.
