This is not about the food, it's about the horrendous takeaway packaging.

I love the food. The food is delicious; I come here often with my aunt if I'm at her place, or if we're lazy we'll pre order a takeaway and walk the 100yds to get it.

I also live nearby (1.5 miles, or 9 min by bike) and I do love getting Kotta delivered because the food is delicious, but the packaging is horrendous.

My usual is the chicken teriyaki but it almost always leaks, creating a massive mess. Sometimes it's not so bad, but I think the other day was the final straw.

My Deliveroo came, and the guy was so apologetic about it dripping everywhere, I had to reassure him it wasn't his fault, it's the packaging. It was so bad in order to stop it dripping everywhere all over carpets, I had to put my hand underneath the bag, leading to my hand being minorly burnt from hot teriyaki sauce (the photo was after I ran it under cold water; the 2nd pic is how much teriyaki sauce leaked into a container I put it in after carrying it downstairs and burning my hand. The third pic is all the leaked sauce actually almost ripping the bag apart).

It's a shame, because I love the food but until you change the packaging I don't think I'm going to be ordering...

I'm Japanese and am so happy I found this place. I struggle to find good Japanese food in London - it's either crazy expensive or made really badly...

We ordered:

Kotta Roll £12.45 - their house roll with prawn tempura, cucumber, avocado, eel, tobiko and a spicy mayo teriyaki sauce Yellowtail & Spring Onion Uramaki £5:45 Seaweed Salad £6.45 Tofu Teriyaki with rice, takuan pickles and shelled edamame £8.95 Raw Snickers Brownie £5.49

Everything was delicious, especially the seaweed salad - the dressing was perfect. The yellowtail was also great, I wish I had ordered the sashimi too. At other places, I often find the rice to filling ratio of the makis are terrible - being mostly rice - but the balance at Kotta is very good.

The only negative is that the rice from the Tofu Teriyaki dish was very hard and crunchy, as if it had been left out for a long time and wasn't fresh. But other than that, everything was great.

I would definitely order againa and can't wait to...

I never write reviews but this really deserved one - to warn anyone considering ordering a takeout from this place (I cannot speak about their dine in quality).

Firstly, the restaurant packaged the warm shrimp rolls in the same container as the raw salmon, it was all left warm. Secondly the rice was SO over cooked it was like a paste. None of the sushi was edible because of the overcooked gummy rice, it’s all waste. The aesthetics were ok but the preparation was awful. It all had an unpleasant smell.

I call up the restaurant the next day to let them know they might have a chef that needs some training, so they can improve their quality and standards. They refuse to connect me to manager, and when I voice my concerns, a “Jay” is completely dismissive. I didn’t even want my money back at this point, and they didn’t want to hear about their awful food, and now customer service.

AVOID. Save your coins and go...

A Huge Disappointment & Food Safety Concern Issue: Fish Bones found in the Salmon Sashimi WARNING: If you are expecting "boneless" sashimi, DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT Service: Bad Do not bother to call this restaurant and makes complaints. It's almost a joke for me when I heard that a fish bone won't kill/do damage to you unless it's "10 cm" long. If I see a 10 cm long fish bone, I would not even eat it. Does it make sense to you, Mr. Manager? For sure, human make mistakes. One mistake is fine, 2nd time? Maybe you should uphold your standard. Don't tell me the excuse that the high standard restaurant would makes the same mistake. If there's an accident happened, I would love to know if you still treat me like the same. Here you go the photo for proof.

Brilliant! We love this place ! Kids were impressed if the preparation or the food, they said they never saw such a beautiful sushi!!! Taste is perfect ( same as look). Cosy friendly atmosphere. It was busy so we wait a little bit, but it is absolutely understandable. I have been reading some reviews about not perfect timing but that doesn't represents the real situation. It is notmal to wait few minutes for this art which is made to order with good quantity food and impressive decor ! Definitely will come back with all family! Thank you!
