Being a fan of Barbican, i had to visit this estate just to see for myself what it is all about. I have never been to Swiss Cottage before. Its a short walk from the tube station. First impressions, its a usual concrete labyrinth trying to get to it as there are a few approaches from the street level and lower from the park nearby. I would probably be worried walking there in the evening, as there are many dark corners, but its fine during the day. Once in Rowley way, the main walkway, you can see the local life unfolding in front of you: playing children , dog walkers, cyclists, passers by, tourists taking pictures. It does look cluttered and run down. However, knowing that some people lived there all their life and others consciously seek to live there, makes you think it must be something special there that attracts residents and makes them stay. Couldn't imagine having to vote on heating temperature but I guess it encourages neighbours to be more friendly to actually speak get along with each other! Is neglected though by CAMDEN COUNCIL not cleaned concrete,disrepair is evident, not to forget imagine being physically disabled in this maze not thought out in that regard & Crime & Anti Social Behaviour must be high in those small, tight, narrow areas dotted around, don't go in the night!!
