The rating purely reflects my own experience. Booked a table for 2 couple of weeks in advance. On arrival, the entrance was locked. Tried to interact with staff, and they finally opened the door. I explained that we had a reservation and were not informed that the place would be shut during the advertised opening hours. It turned out that the chef hadn't turned up for work. Eventually, the owner took the initiative to host us and cook for us. He was a lovely man, went over and beyond, and feel sorry for giving 3 stars, but it would simply not be fair towards other establishments I have reviewed where everything went smoothly to rate La Brasa higher.
Since it was the manager cooking for us we were limited on what we could order. Ended up having a sharing platter with lovely juicy cuts of meat and calamari for starters. Calamari were the best I've had. So soft and flavourful.
It's definitely worth a visit. However, I'd be reluctant to because of the awkward experience. Wish the owner all the luck. A bit of a tip: When something major goes wrong in providing the service to visitors, it's customery to offer complimentary drinks/dessert/starters as a gesture...
Read moreTHIS PLACE IS NOT ACTUALLY HALAL. Be careful. They told us they would swap all the pork items for “halal chicken and meat options”.
Firstly, it’s not halal certified, as in the shop itself is not. The meat as in the beef steak, sirloin etc they serve is halal as I asked to check in the kitchen and the chef showed me the packaging which was halal from Brazil. Idk how honest he was being because he just showed me a card board.
The chicken sausage they sell is NOT halal. It’s simply chicken. They told me it’s halal. I went to check and it was just Romanian chicken and turkey sausage. I don’t even know if they use separate grills for the pork and non pork products as they seemed very confused when I asked about halal, and halal certification.
To make matters worse, the guy at the till showed us the QR code and asked to review positively at the spot. And was hovering over us to check if we had reviewed. This makes me question how genuine their reviews are. I’ve reported these people to the food standards agency as they are misleading by saying things are halal when they’re simply just not pork with no halal body...
Read moreI took my wife here for her bday as she is from el salvador and we are always looking for some authentic home comfort food, which believe you me is hard to find. Well, what a gem of a find this place was. As soon as we walked in the place we were greeted by a great vibe of music and tradition that took my wife all the way back home. The enriched culture and atmosphere was great and we were warmly welcomed. What made the experience even better was that my wife whose first language is Spanish had a wonderful chat with our server about the dishes and the delicacies they bring. It was very busy and totally full but that did not stop our food coming out at a very reasonable time. The food was an absolute treat to eat. Authentic, flavoursome, traditional and yet at a very affordable price. We even managed to get a dessert of tres leches, a big fan favourite of mine and something I have not had in a very long time. Again we were not disappointed. All in all we had a great time with some great food, great ambiance and a birthday girl very happy. We...
