Shawarma Hut - Restaurant Elephant and Castle — Restaurant in London

So I don’t know why however this place was very hit and miss. How it has a 4.5 on google reviews seems a bit bizarre! Just my opinion especially if the standard was anything like tried today! Ordered two 19.50 platters which was basically a chicken mix. Shawarma, grilled chicken cubes and wings.

Let’s start of with what was nice Wings, fantastic, nicely cooked, moist and yeah really good. The skewed chicken, very dry, over cooked and not as nice. Wasn’t very moist at all and Shawarma chicken was pretty oily.

Fries are fries, definitely not hand cut fries or homemade they wasn’t but that’s fine no problem necessarily with that at all. Salad was very small I thought, few pieces of lettuce. I did like the thing whatever was the onion and like bread thing on top of the dinner. But a bit unnecessary part of the dish and to be fair didn’t say this would be included. Also bread and hummus before eating in a restaurant like this is fairly common and fairly standard practice

It was nice though to be honest but again standard hummus and bread is before you main in a restaurant like this.

Come the end of our service got the bill paid in full, £52.35p however the was an unexpected service charge! I did get service charge knocked off because service was good not amazing but nonetheless with two people or one person I always think service charge shouldn’t be for just one or two people. If it’s a group of 4+ or 6 or something then yeah okay service charge is valid I think because that requires large table space and takes up substantial part of the restaurant it would be for just two people dinning seems a bit pointless charging two people service charge and okay they was polite so I’ve got no complaints there. When raised it, gentleman understood without any sort of problem.

So I do appreciate that.

I’ve been to this restaurant in person before with a friend, it has a nice atmosphere and very good food. However, I placed an Uber order online at 4:50 pm , 1 soup 2 condiments and 2 chicken mix platters as there was a buy one get one free promotion. I had 3 different uber drivers go and take the order however they claim that the restaurant didn’t want to make it due to the amount of customers currently in their restaurant. I can understand that they could be having a busy night however customers that eat at the restaurant and customers that order from home are both customers, I don’t understand why this restaurant would spend over an hour making delivery and telling the delivery person to wait 10 minutes then when they go back in the restaurant another 10 minutes. This is blatantly wasting the time of the delivery driver. The order didn’t arrive until 6:10pm and I live 10 minutes away by walk. This didn’t make any sense to me.
