Galaxy London – Karaoke & Dining (Elephant & Castle) — Restaurant in London

I recently visited Galaxy, a Chinese restaurant located in Elephant & Castle, and overall, I had a fairly good experience.

The food was flavourful and well-prepared, offering a variety of classic Chinese dishes that were enjoyable. The menu provides a good selection, and most of the dishes we ordered were well-seasoned and nicely presented.

One of the standout features of this restaurant is its KTV (karaoke) service, which makes it a fantastic spot for group gatherings and celebrations. Whether you’re dining with friends or looking for a fun night out, the combination of good food and karaoke adds a lively and entertaining atmosphere.

However, there are a few downsides to consider. Firstly, the location is a bit out of the way, which might not be the most convenient for everyone. It’s not particularly difficult to find, but it’s not as central as some other options in London. Secondly, the pricing is on the higher side, especially considering the portion sizes. While the food quality is decent, it may not offer the best value for money compared to other Chinese restaurants in the city.

That being said, if you’re looking for a fun dining experience with the added bonus of KTV, Galaxy is still worth considering. It’s a good choice for special occasions or casual meet-ups with friends who enjoy good food and a bit of entertainment. Had an unpleasant experience at this establishment from when we arrived to when I left resulting in me having food poisioning! When we arrived we were informed to take a seat and explained how to order (using a highlighter to circle the items on the menu). Once we had done that we politely gestured to the staff that we were ready, only for one to come over ask if we were ready which we responded yes to which he walked away, i assumed to advice another member of staff to take our order. We waited again and gestured we were ready by raising our hand to signal to the waitress we were still ready and waiting. The lady gave me eye contact, proceeded to go on the her phone, have a conversation (laughing and joking with other staff), took orders from other tables who arrived after us, only then did she make her way over to our table. We ordered our food and waited. We ordered special fried rice, egg fried rice, stew pork in sweet and sour sauce and Kung Pao Chicken. The only thing that was really edible was the special fried rice. The Kung Pao chicken disgusting, texture of the chicken can be described as a brain like texture and the pork tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for a while and had been reheated in the microwave, very stale. Planned to surprise my girlfriend for her birthday. I clearly requested in advance to have birthday decorations. However on arrival, as you can see on the uploaded image there were no decorations what so ever, just like any other karaoke room.

Friends and family arrived 15 minutes early and noticed there were no decorations, staff was then notified and said it would take them 20 minutes to set it up which wasn’t a problem at all. Then they came back and said they had no birthday decorations clearly knowing that this had been requested beforehand. (Proof of screenshot uploaded)

Another reason why I give a 1 star is because I clearly stated on the pre order that I wanted AU Grape Vodka however they placed a AU Watermelon Vodka in our room instead.

I called them up about how unhappy I was, and they offered a free bottle of alcohol if we ever decided to return. They should have offered this on the day as after what I’ve experienced, I don’t think I’d be back there.
