šĀ Homerton šŗĀ Ā£6.00 Cruzcampo
The Adam & Eve is located on Homerton High Street in Hackney, East London. The nearest station is Homerton which is on the newly named Mildmay line.
This pub has a history dating back to 1735, the pub you see today was built in 1915. This is an absolutely stunning building, the architecture is striking with detailed stonework which creates an imposing facade.
This is a sizeable traditionally decorated pub which retains many original period features. The servery is centrally located with adjoining bars forming a āU shape around it. The right hand side of the pub has a long bar with a pool table sat at the back. There is a larger bar to the left which has a raised seating area with beautiful stained glass panels. At the back of the pub is another space with cosy banquettes and an āLā shaped pool table which is a rare find. At the rear of the pub is a beer garden which has a tropical feel. Everywhere you look around this pub there are amazing features like the leaded window partition, stained glass, period fireplaces, stunning ceiling, huge mirrors and swathes of detailed woodwork.
The beer selection was solid and offers familiar mainstays, London brews and cask ales. I kept it simple and ordered a Cruzcampo, my pint was great, price point was average. At the time of visiting the food menu was Hot Dogs and Subs. There is a new kitchen residency @essi.restaurant which serves up traditional Greek cuisine plus roasts on a Sunday.
We arrived just after 12pm on a humid Saturday lunchtime in August. The pub was quiet at first, but soon started filling up with punters eager to catch the start of the Arsenal v Brighton midday Prem match. By the time we left at halftime, the pub was packed with a predominantly younger crowd. The service was friendly and welcoming, the chap who served us was pleasant and courteous.
Well, what a cracking pub @theadamandevee9 is. I absolutely loved the architecture, the traditional and interesting decor, the beer was on point and the hospitality first class. I left here with a big smile, what a boozer!

Ā Ā Ā Read moreA beautiful pub rich in history. I would have had another couple pints on there if it wasnāt for the dismissive attitude of the bar service.
When me and my partner entered the place there was no one at the bar, which is perfectly okay, as you do when itās your first time at a pub we looked to see if there was a bar at the other side of the room.
There was some steps going to a downstairs area, we peaked in and saw there was a busy bar there. So we headed down and a lady working at the pub told us āthereās a private function going on hereā. Which, once again, is perfectly okay - we didnāt realise. It was only after that we saw there was a rope supposed to close off the area (which wasnāt going across the steps when we went down). We didnāt realise we were intruding on anything.
Once we headed up to the normal bar we heard the lady who works there say to someone in the private function āpeople are so stupidā or something along those lines. It was a rude comment which definitely tainted the experience for us.
I brushed it aside thinking maybe it was just a coincidence and she might have been carrying on from a previous conversation. However, upon reading other reviews on here I realise other people have found this lady to be abit negative towards them and it makes me pretty confident she was directing this at us.
Iām not saying people have to act the way I want when I go into a place. But I wouldāve thought if you worked in a social environment like this youād have the manners to at least not say something like that out loud for them to hear.
We were just a young couple out on a date soaking up the history of this beautiful pub. We didnāt deserve to be treated like that.
I would recommend this pub over any other in the city because of its old timey atmosphere and rich heritage. But I would encourage people to put a review on here if they keep experiencing problems with this particular staff member because itās a shame when a lovely pub like this has a rude person...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo I love Adam and Eve itās a great pub itās beautiful inside. However they have this new Thai Street food menu which we tried today. Erm really disappointed. Itās very limited. However the portion sizes for what the mark up price is very stingy. We had the fried squid as a starter and I swear they used a razor blade to get that squid as thin as they could possibly get away with. Then we had the deep fried chicken wings we totally left that the crust was so thick and soaked up so much oil we all left it. On the menu it really bigs up Thai french fries emphasising theyāre double crispy with this and that on top. They were just as crisp as normal french fries, so nothing special. Then we had some noodle thing with tofu quite bland. Massaman curry was absolutely gorgeous but you had to order rice separate and the potion of rice is tiny and there was another dish canāt remember name but it was Ā£11 on menu it was so small it came on a side plate. The portions are very very very stingy thereās some flavour there in some dishes it looks better than it tastes. We were on the Eat out to help out scheme and the bill came to Ā£60 ish odd and cost Ā£30 so we were overall happy if we actually had to pay Ā£60 for it then no we wouldnāt got back. Itās my local the menu before was amazing and the roast dinner has always been next level off the scale! Hopefully this will be intergrated back. Itās a beautiful pub and the staff are lovely worth a visit! Better with the...
