Went here for a Christmas work meal as a group of around 20. Our appetisers and drinks didn't take too long to arrive, but the wait for our mains was ridiculous, especially as aside from our group the restaurant only had 5 or 6 other tables to serve so it wasn't a busy night.
Took over 45 mins to receive my main, and I still had to wait for my side before I could eat which was disappointing. Around a third of the group had already finished eating their mains whilst others still were waiting to receive theirs. Some people received their sides (chips, salad, or rice) but had to wait another 20 mins for the meat to arrive.
The man who took our orders was polite and professional and looked the part too, (can't remember his name sorry), however the waitress to came later was dressed very casual so we didn't even realise she worked there to begin with when she came to take our plates. Her and another servers attitude was also unpleasant and it appeared as though they didn't want to be there which is unfortunate. Other little things that needed tightening up to improve the overall experience would be clearing the menus from the tables once orders have been put through, and ensuring there is enough cutlery for everyone on the table.
The food itself once it arrived tasted quite delicious which is the restaurants saving grace. However I doubt I will be returning anytime soon to be honest. If you do go, their Hennessy Margarita goes down a treat, and their bbq goat is very tasty! But I would avoid getting the beef sizzle and jollof if you have somewhere you need to rush to after as it will be a long wait. They also should work on expanding their vegetarian options as the selection was...
Read moreThe manager of this place are very rude. I came there with one of my friends, as soon as I saw the place the exterior is a eye sore. But I'd thought the inside would look nice. But I was wrong, the table is beyond dirty, the floor had food particles ever, and the chair are dirty. Since my friend and I were hungry we sat down. The staff were really working hard while the two managers were shouting at them. One of the staff caught my eyes because he was getting yelled the most. We order our food and we waited, they were pretty quick with the food and the food was not greatest or the baddest. When we finished our food there was a small issue with the boy and managers. Both of the managers gang up on him, they both was shouting but not enough to hear them properly. The whole issus ended when the male manager said take your bag and leave. So the boy did while apologising to the manager and saying his last goodbye to the staff. He left the store and I caught to him, I asked him what happened and he said that he was blamed for giving the wrong order to the uber eats deliverer, but he checked every order to see if that was the right one. This was his second day working here and that how the manager treat some of their staff. The boy seem unsure if he gave the wrong order. I feel like the managers are racist because they treat the staff who comes from Nigeria with respect and dignity while the opposite to the staff and customers. If your seeing this it better for you to look for another...
Read moreDO NOT GO TO EKO. WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE EVER.
I don’t even know where to begin. We just spent TWO HOURS waiting for food at EKO. Not a single drink. Not a starter. Nothing. We asked repeatedly where our food was and no one could give us an answer. No communication, no urgency, just a bunch of staff walking around doing nothing and ignoring customers.
It’s Mother’s Day, and what should’ve been a lovely day was completely ruined. We drove an hour from Essex, sat in traffic, made the journey specially—for what? To be treated like we didn’t exist?
When I finally went to speak to the manager, all he could say was “I do apologise”. I told him we’d been sitting there starving for two hours and his response? “I’m sorry.” No solution. No offer. No care. Just a blank apology. We walked out still hungry, still ignored.
EVERY table around us was complaining. People waited over an hour for starters, and then another hour for mains.
EKO is an embarrassment. It’s genuinely the worst restaurant I have ever stepped foot in. Don’t let the aesthetics fool you. The service is abysmal. The staff do not care. And clearly, neither does the management.
Save yourself the time, the petrol, the hunger, and the disappointment. Don’t waste your time here....
