I loved the sauna! It was super clean, beautifully and tastefully decorated. I wouldâve given the place 5 stars had I felt fully secure and safe but, unfortunately, I didnât because 2 men walked into the area during the womenâs sauna session :/.
The first guy was some random guy who came in to use the plunge pool and the second being a member of staff, who came into the area twice. I had to wait until he left before leaving to get into the plunge pool. It made me really uncomfortable because as a Muslim woman, nobody but our partners should see us in our bikiniâs, like that but, also because I donât feel comfortable Periodt around men like that.
I didnât get the opportunity to say anything on my way out of the sauna to a member of staff but, I will definitely be mentioning it on my next visit. They were really friendly and welcoming ,for my first session, so Iâm sure theyâll listen to my concerns.
Review update: Went back to the sauna with my friend recently and I was super happy to hear from staff that the issue from my previous visit had been resolved and that they were being very vigilant with who walked by. They even have a sign up at the entrance notifying passers by that itâs a womenâs only session so, because of that I am happy give hackney sauna 5 stars đ
Be sure to try the place out and bring a friend or more than...
Read moreIâve been coming weekly for a few months and really enjoy it. So glad Sauna culture is making its way in the UK. The setup is simple but solid: Proper wood-fired hot! saunas Cold plunges at different temps Affordable pricing Non-profit mission Nice vibes overall
That said, I have felt one consistent issue that differentiates this sauna from authentic saunas in Sweden/Norway/Eastern Europe: most people skip showering after the sauna before plunging, which goes against basic sauna etiquette. Iâve raised it a couple of times with staff, but this is not addressed at the moment. Feels like staff could be more proactive verbally to remind all people (not just first-timers) before the sessions
Also worth noting - no warm showers, which is fine, just something to...
Read moreWent on a Saturday afternoon and really enjoyed it! There were several small saunas and one large sauna available. Another large sauna had been booked for a private event so we couldnât use it. There was free water, tea and some fruit (sliced oranges) which was a lovely touch. The plunge pools that you climb down the ladder into were soooo cold I could only stay in for about 5 seconds. A lady spent too long in there and fainted when she got out so do be careful, especially if youâre a newbie to saunas/ice baths. Could be improved by having hot showers and having a clock! We had no idea what time it was and how long we had left. Overall, great experience and...
