OVERVIEW Table consensus: A very good African restaurant with great food!

PLUS The ‘Suya Jumbo Prawns’ were unanimously rated 5* by the table — everyone ordered them after sampling. However, non-African palates may find its heat overpowering 🔥. Most side dishes were generous in portion sizes (i.e. ‘Plantain Sticks’ and ‘Yam’). ‘Mac & Cheese’ was flavourful but very cheesy. Quick and accurate streamlined system that allowed everyone to pay their share separately. The waitress was professional, patient and attentive. A modern, chic restaurant and the music played complemented the cuisine served.

MINUS Over an hour’s wait for mains at a table of four! They did not accommodate simple meal alteration requests, such as a swap of side sauces. The ‘Succulent Jerk Chicken’ was neither fiery nor succulent — more guava-glazed than Jerk. The portion was small and the chicken dry.

Arrived at restaurant wasn’t greeted had to ask if they were open as the man just looked at me and said nothing. Once he had confirmed they were open nothing after me standing in the door way he then asked if I had a reservation I said yes he then told me to sit down there was no offer of water (it’s 28 degrees in London) or asking if I would like to order a drink. My friend arrived we were then just left sitting there. My last friend was then harassed by some make shift security guard sitting at the bus stop. We then decided that we were going to leave and requested that our £30 deposit be returned. The man stated that I would need to cancel the reservation but it clearly could not be done online and then decided that he was just going to ignore us so we left wouldn’t recommend. Absolutely terrible experience. Music was obnoxiously loud to the point of not being able to have a conversation. I ordered a mocktail on the 2 for 1 and after tasting it and noticing it had alcohol in it, I reported it to a member of staff, who then proceeded to taste it using a straw in and confirming there was alcohol in the drink and then RETURNED THE DRINK TO ME, questioning why I didn’t still want to drink the drink after 1. It had alcohol and 2. He DRANK FROM THE SAME DRINK. The service was absolutely terrible. I’m sad to say it and I understand my experience was clearly not what everybody else had experienced as it was recommended. But I will most definitely never be visiting this place again and I have ensured to tell everybody that I know or asks...
