Jack Craig mmmmm. Such a tasty man. He pours the best pint south of the equator. Great chat. Has a nice set of nipples. I've heard. I have had my scribe write this for me. I would like to sign off with Jack's favourite saying: "I love my manager at Lord Nelson's". Here is the recipe for home cooked brownies

2 eggs + water – Michelle uses a bit of water with the eggs to achieve the moist, gooey texture of boxed mix brownies without any commercial emulsifiers. And because this recipe doesn’t contain any baking powder, eggs are essential for helping the brownies puff up in the oven.

Powdered sugar – The trick to making homemade brownies that are just like ones from a box! Powdered sugar contains cornstarch, which helps thicken the batter without the chemical additives you’d find in a mix.

Unsweetened cocoa powder – Michelle recommends using Hershey’s Special Dark Dutch-processed cocoa powder (I used Whole Foods’ 365 Cocoa Powder). Make sure to sift it if it’s lumpy!

Oil – While many recipes for brownies use unsalted butter, Michelle’s calls for canola oil, just like the boxed mix. I use olive oil because it’s what I keep on hand, and I love the rich flavor. Vanilla Extract – 1/2 teaspoon vanilla really amps up the chocolate flavor.

That’s it! These fantastic homemade brownies...

There are many things you need to know before your first visit here, oh residents and visitors of London.

Fact the 1st - You will be talked to!! The staff here all seem to have an affliction which leaves them chatty and engaging. DON'T PANIC (words to live by, thank you Mr Douglas), outside of the UK this is called Customer Service, something that is usually expected so do not be afraid to respond. Maybe a comment about the weather??

Fact the 2nd - They have a large menu, but thanks to fact the 1st they will let you take your time to make a decision, maybe even recommend a beverage to drink while you read and make your decision, this is a smart move.

Fact the 3rd - This is a biggy... If you like something in a particular way why not try asking for it? I know that's not the stiff upper lip way but maybe that beer has made you a bit more relaxed? Like your bacon/onions extra crispy? Just try asking for it. Maybe say "Please and Thank You" if you think this might be an imposition.

Fact the 4th - If you are feeling a bit low go sit in the corner and bask in the warmth of Mr Noel Edmond's loving gaze.

Righty oh. Go, eat, drink...

This was my 1st visit to the Lord Nelson and it probably won't be my last. I chose a "Big fat Greek" lamb burger, whilst my 2 friends went for the "Lord Nelson" burgers with beef. Getting served at the bar was slow, partly because there were other people waiting and mostly because of the 3 staff behind the bar, only one was serving, one was washing glasses and the other one was flitting about, but it wasn't clear what they were doing. There was a good choice of beers and they were not too expensive. The burgers were delivered reasonably quickly along with condiments and cutlery. They were good with a pile of chips, salad and plenty of fixings. The home made chilli sauce should carry a health warning but was delicious. My one gripe about the food would be that the bun was cheap and nasty and had no texture. I'm. not even sure if it had been toasted as it was just "fluffy". The place is insanely noisy with poor acoustics that echo every voice, laugh and scream, nearly to the point of challenging the relentless music. Verdict; Nice staff, very friendly, Nice food - could be better, but still Good value. Sit outside...

Wonderful experience, and wall of text incoming! We were three tourists who wanted to eat and drink a little, before heading to the airport. Luckily for us, we stumbled on this place when looking at maps! We arrived right before the kitchen closed, which is the worst time to order for the staff, but they still served us with a smile. The burgers were absolutely stellar! Unique mixes of toppings with great taste and texture. With sides of LOADS of fries and some coleslaw, none of us could even finish the whole plate. Serving the buns without sauce, and instead having all of it on the table, was a great feature since it allowed extra "customisation". There weren't a lot of people during our visit, but the atmosphere and decorations were very unique. And just my taste! Would give 6 stars if I could.

Best burgers in the UK, and dare I say ever. I have eaten a lot of burgers (A LOT) having developed my love at the age of 10 on holiday in Spain, since I have had burgers all over the country and a few places in Europe and The Lord Nelson are without a doubt the best. I go here with my colleagues all the time and they agree (12 men of varying ages and backgrounds) and took my in-laws here a few weeks ago and won them over too. We even have our Christmas lunches here with work and they are absolutely impeccable. The pub is shabby-chic, cheap drinks and a bit studenty, the furniture doesn't match and they have a disco ball in the toilets. The staff are friendly and everything is clean. Honourable mention THOSE CHIPS ❤️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I visited Lord Nelson on Union Street and tried their Big Fat Burger, and it definitely lived up to the name! The burger was packed full of flavour, topped with a perfectly cooked fried egg, fresh salad, and served with crispy fries and creamy coleslaw. Every bite felt hearty and satisfying. The atmosphere in the pub was warm and welcoming, with a great vibe that made the meal even more enjoyable. Both the staff and the other customers were genuinely friendly, which added to the overall experience. If you’re looking for a place in London that serves up generous portions, delicious food, and great service, I highly recommend giving the Big Fat Burger at Lord Nelson a try.
