Terrible experience. I have been a regular customer since 2010. But tonight dinner would be the last meal at Masguf which is very sad. I have made a booking over the phone for 7 people and the gentleman mentioned that the have space on the lower ground floor. I mentioned that i have guests from abroad and i have promised them to have the best Iraqi cuisine and as long as it is a nice place to sit we are happy to go in the downstairs room. Once we arrived at the restaurant they did not have a table ready. They asked us to sit at a 4 person table and wait for them to bring another table. This took more than twenty minutes. At the same we were sitting underneath the air conditioner which was freezing. I have asked the lady waitress and she said this is the wind coming from outside and we do not have the control to switch it off. So after 25 minutes they brought another table (for two) with different height from the one we had. Also, there was only four set of plate and cutleries on the table. When we asked the waitress to bring another three she replied very impolitely saying we are very busy.
So finally I ordered the food. After another twenty minutes of waiting under freezing air conditioner. They have agreed to move us to another table. This itself took another 15 minutes for them to prepare the table. When we moved, they instantly served the starters. But all the hot starters and the bread was super cold. They also forgot to bring us the Soup that we ordered (however they charged us for the soup on the bill). Two minutes after serving the starters they served the main course and as there was not enough space on the table we didn’t get a chance to have our starters! So we started having the main course. I asked the waitress that you forgot to bring main course plate. We had our main course in small starter plate for almost 15 minutes and then they brought the big plate for us. Towards the end of the dinner a lady who was the friend of the manager sat on our first table (under the air conditioner) and complained about the temperature. After two minutes the waiter managed to turn off the air conditioner.
So I had the worst experience and food tonight in Knightsbridge (the most expensive area in London) and spent £266. And no one from the restaurant management bothered about this and they didn’t even offer any discount. I just told them that I won’t pay 12% service charge as the was absolutely No service offered to us. Also I asked them to remove the soup from the bill and same waiter asked me did we not serve...

Read moreI came to this restaurant a year ago and the food and quality of service was amazing. I visited recently and it is clear that this restaurant's management and chef has been changed as everything was different and the service and food were extremely poor. For a start the restaurant is called Masgouf but they don't actually sell masgouf fish like they did previously. They use the name on the menu but the fish is in fact grilled and not cooked the authentic way, in fact I even doubt if the chef at this restaurant is even an Iraqi chef. They charge an overpriced amount for a tiny piece of flavourless Sea Bass that tastes like it was made in the oven. They have a lot of waiters who just stand around doing nothing. One waiter was just hanging round by our table and would walk by every five minutes looking at our food which was so strange and uncomfortable and we couldn't wait to get out of there. The experience at this restaurant is not worth it. You could probably get higher quality of service and food at any other Middle Eastern restaurant in Edgware Road who would charge you half the price. The quality of service and food at this restaurant is not up to par in a place like Knightsbridge, they are better placed somewhere in East London. I would not recommend this...
