Burger & Lobster Knightsbridge — Restaurant in London

The long-haired waitress with a ponytail made numerous mistakes in her work and displayed a poor service attitude, turning what was supposed to be a joyful dinner gathering with my friend into an awkward and frustrating experience.

For over a decade, my family and I have arranged dinners at this restaurant for festive occasions or when friends visit from abroad, usually ordering the largest lobster on the menu because it is the freshest and most delicious.

Last Sunday on 23 Feb, as usual, I made dinner plans at the restaurant with my husband and visiting friends. Upon arriving, we noticed that the restaurant seemed less crowded than before, and we wondered if the recent economic downturn in the UK was affecting the business. I later discovered that a bigger issue was the unprofessional working style and slow service attitude of the staff.

When my group of four arrived, we clearly expressed our desire to order the large lobster. The long-haired waitress promptly provided a list of the different weights and quantities of the lobsters available. We indicated we wanted the largest one. The waitress then showed us a live lobster, and we were excited to take photos.

However, we had to wait a considerable amount of time for her and the other staff to finish their chatting before she took our order. We began to order, specifying that we wanted the large lobster prepared grilled, along with other items like bao buns, fried squid, and drinks.

When the waitress brought our food, she only delivered a standard lobster, which was not what we ordered. We immediately questioned if there had been a mistake. The waitress seemed to have forgotten that she had previously shown us the large lobster for our photos and falsely claimed that we only ordered one standard lobster. If she had been professional and attentive, how could she have allowed us to order just one standard lobster for four adults?

Not only did she show no remorse, but her attitude was also worse, shifting all the blame to us. We insisted that we did not want the standard lobster, as it was insufficient for four adults, and we wanted the large lobster we originally ordered.

During our meal, we noticed that the waitress deliberately avoided our table, so we had no choice but to ask other staff for the sauce. However, when it came time to settle the bill, even though we could only signal another staff member to handle it, the bill was still reviewed and confirmed by the same waitress before being handed to us. We found that she had not deducted the charge for the incorrectly ordered standard lobster, almost causing us to overpay by £30. The waitress continued to act oblivious, which infuriated my friends and me.

Although my family and I have been regular customers at Burgers & Lobsters in Knightsbridge for over ten years, I believe we will not consider dining there again in the near future unless there is a significant improvement in...

The decor was nice. However, I found the restaurant atmosphere too loud and noisy. The music was so loud that it made it very difficult to converse with your companions. There are no toilets available at the restaurant,so you do have to exit the restaurant and use the department store facilities which are on the same floor.

The service could have been a lot better. I ordered a combo meal for two. They served two burgers and chips. They were unaware of this error until I pointed out that it was the lobster roll with fries that was missing. I have lost count of the number of times they came back and forth to our table to ask what I had ordered. Two waiting staff and one that looked like a kitchen staff came to discuss amongst themselves how that plate of burger and chips ended up on our table, whilst they were trying to establish where the problem occurred. We were truly invisible at this point as they talked amongst themselves trying to relocate the incorrect dish to the right table. Then finally, they asked again, what I had ordered and all three left. No acknowledgement or apologies for the error. After waiting for some time, finally the waiter brought out the correct meal. He did acknowledge and apologise for the error this time. As all four of us ordered lobster, there were only knives and forks available. I had to ask for the lobster cracker tools in addition as this was not offered to make dinning easier. Bottled drinks served were room temperature. Although a glass filled with ice cubes were given, the soft drink was not as chilled as it could have been. Food: I requested steamed lobster. My lobster was truly overcooked.🦞 Although steamed, the meat was not succulent, it was dry and not tender. Salad however was delicious, tasty dressing and flavoursome. The lemon dressing was nice too. Fries, not bad, not too greasy. Lobster roll, delicious, thoroughly enjoyed this. My husband really enjoyed his burger, not too dry and rather tasty. Cooked medium as requested. We ordered a side dish of macaroni lobster cheese. I personally found the sauce very thick. It was so, so. The restaurant was reasonably busy but each section had been allocated staff to attend to diners. Good distribution of staff, not short staffed, but shame service was not efficient. Everything took a wee while, from start to finish, including waiting to pay the bill. My daughter has severe egg allergy and the buns used in vegan burgers and the beef burgers contains egg. Well~ time to 🦞🍔 Got their most popular single set: a juicy medium-well beef burger and half a grilled lobster, plus a mojito to drink~ 🦞 The lobster was super springy and tender—just half, plain style ’cause I’m not really into the sauce that came with the set. 🍔 The burger? Sooo good—moist, flavourful, literally melts in your mouth Fries were thin and extra crispy I casually asked if they had any birthday perks when I walked in—kinda miss the longevity noodles we get back home. When I was about to leave, the staff totally surprised me! Three cute employees sang happy birthday and brought out a chocolate cake~ omggg 🥲 So here’s to saying hiiii to all the happiness and byeeeee to all the worries~ Stay brave, and happy birthday to me!
