I was booked in for the English Rose spa package yesterday and had a wonderful day at the spa. The women’s only spa facilities were super clean, quiet and left me fully relaxed before my treatments. It’s quite small but perfectly formed and there were only two other women there whilst I was using it so didn’t feel crowded. There’s also a big pool in another area of the hotel (although I didn’t use it.) The changing area is stocked with nice little extras as is the relaxation room, which I ended up having a nap in after my treatments. My treatments were absolutely fantastic as was my therapist. The heated and adjustable massage bed is a really nice touch. The hotel itself is also stunning and the staff all seem very committed to delivering a five star service to their guests.
A few negatives- Some of the shower fittings are loose and would benefit users to have clear hot and cold markings on them. The weighted blankets in the relaxation room are not long enough. I’m 5’7” and my feet and lower legs weren’t covered. It’s such a shame as the blankets are lovely but it did affect my ability to get comfortable and became quite annoying. The towels were lovely and soft but the dressing gown was too small. It was a size xxl on the label so there’s definitely sizing issues here! Out of the two other women in the spa it only fit one of them and she was very small. The other woman was of average build and it didn’t fit her either. The website is tricky to navigate and could do with being MUCH clearer. I found it difficult to find detailed facility information and prices. It comes across as a bit dated really. I don’t understand business that make it difficult for customers to book their services and this would’ve probably been enough to put me off coming here over a spa that had a better, more user friendly website. My boyfriend booked this for me however and although I’m glad he did, he did express it wasn’t the easiest. Alarms went off whilst I was in the pool for about a minute. I was about to vacate when another guest told me it was a test. She’d been warned about it but I hadn’t. I did laugh about it but really I should’ve been given a heads up.
Room for improvement but overall the good outweighs the bad and I’d recommend and will most likely...
Read moreThe Spa @ Mandarin Oriental is spread across two basement floors in the Mandarin Oriental hotel; a stone throw fro Kensington underground station. Following a review of their spa packages and other alternatives for an afternoon spa experience I booked the Tea & Therapy package which I would highly recommend for a couple or a catchup with friends. The Tea & Therapy consists of one hour and fifty minutes of treatment followed by afternoon tea in the hotel. We showed up two hours before our appointment to take advantage of the spa facilities, swimming pool and gym including men and female sanariums, vitality pools and amethyst crystal steam rooms. Outside of the gym, swimming pool and a relaxation room all spa facilities are separate for men and women. The swimming pool area felt expansive and the grey slate combined with water feature provides a cool and relaxing feel. The swimming pool is narrow but long enough to provide a good swimming workout. Upon arriving to the spa reception we were greeted by a very friendly host which kindly took our shoes and exchanged them for sandals. Following the exchange of footwear, each of us were taken to our respective areas. The male changing room was the highlight of the facilities - featuring low dimmed lighting, a wide variety of amenities, thick bathrobes, a large squared jacuzzi pool in the middle of the room, a stream room and hot room. From the changing room we taken to the treatment room area in the upper floor were we meet our individual specialists. The specialist was very friendly, cordial and funny asking me a series of questions to tailor the treatment. Instead of choosing a specific treatment I asked for a combination - facial and back massage. It was the best massage I have had and the facial was not only relaxing but insightful as she described to me my type of skin and how to look after it. All together while the Spa @ Mandarin Oriental is not as modern as some newer venues, it is four star experience that reminds you how comforting tradition and old fashioned...
Read moreI had an amazing birthday spa day and feel so blessed by the entire experience from start to finish! David was an incredibly professional massage therapist — honestly, it was the best massage I’ve ever had. Every detail was thoughtfully done and absolutely satisfying.
The reception staff were so kind and welcoming, and they made my birthday feel truly special with a lovely gift and a glass of champagne. I also enjoyed a delicious lunch in the beautiful garden of the restaurant — the perfect way to end my session.
The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is due to some confusion around my restaurant reservation. I had asked to move it a bit later so I could enjoy more time using the spa facilities. I was told the restaurant would close at 2:30, but it wasn’t clearly explained that I needed to arrive earlier to be seated. I was first told I had to be there by 2pm, and then at reception they said my reservation was actually at 2:15. The mixed messages made me feel rushed and a bit stressed, and I missed out on some relaxing time in the lounge that I had really been looking forward to.
That said, I still had a wonderful day overall and can’t wait to come back. Huge thanks to David and the whole team for their outstanding...
