London Pub MapLondon Pub Map
🚇 Hornsey 🍺 £6.75 Estrella Galicia This pub is located just up the road from the Clock Tower in Crouch End, North London. The nearest station is Hornsey. The Maynard Arms was built by developers Joshua Alexander and William Bradshaw in 1851. The Maynard name comes from Stephen Maynard of Islington who was Lord of the Manor of Topsfield in 1356. This large, modern Gastropub has quite the contemporary feel. Upon entering, the servery is on the right, illuminated by industrial pendants. The spacious main bar area wraps around the servery, with a corner banquette to the right and an elevated section to the left. Further inside, there is a dining area with varied seating. The decor includes boarded floors, mixed painted and exposed brick walls, black and white prints, and ample seating. A good-sized beer garden with pergolas is at the rear, and a few benches at the front offer street views. The beer selection was impressive, boasting a good mix of premium and local beers, along with three cask ales. I opted for an Estrella Galicia, my pint hit the spot; price point was as expected. The food menu features classic British pub fare, offering both comfort food options and slightly more elevated dishes. Fish & Chips costs £18, and roasts are available on Sundays. We arrived just after 3pm on a sunny Saturday afternoon in August. The pub was quiet inside, as the majority of punters were outside enjoying the summer sun. There was a upbeat buzz in the beer garden and a chilled, laid-back atmosphere around the bar inside. The service was pleasant; the team on duty were welcoming and courteous. Sometimes walking into a gastropub can feel a bit intimidating when all you want is a pint, and every table is set with a full array of cutlery – but not here. We enjoyed our visit to @themaynardarms; the pub has a nice local feel, and the environment was comfortable. The beer selection will please a wide range of tastes, and you're in the right place if you're after some decent grub. This pub is worth checking out if you're in the area. 📅 17th August 2024 More London pub info on socials @londonpubmap 🍻

The Maynard Arms answered the question, providing us with a good Sunday Roast dinner helping us to have a very chilled afternoon. From the moment I walked in this place was busy, yet chilled; a show of how popular it is with locals. The pub is deceptively big, and the decor is very nice with me getting a rustic feel at every turn of my head. The staff were very friendly and attentive, with me also having a nice conversation with one of the waitresses on my experience, friendly staff always elevate the experience. For lunch I ordered the porchetta, which is something I didn't expect to find on the menu as when it comes to a roast dinner I always favour a nice piece of English pork belly. This was a very different experience with an attempt to fuze a classic Sunday Roast with Rome's famous pork belly, something I've eaten a few times on multiple trips around Italy. Everything on my plate was cooked well, however it was the porchetta that I was a little put off by as it was dryer than usually expected only being more enjoyed with a little gravy which shouldn't be the case with this meat dish. For me it just doesn't sit well with a roast dinner as the flavour profiles greatly differ where a roast dinner is monotone in taste and simple, unlike Italian food which speaks for itself being one of the best cuisines with rich flavours. I would have kept the pork option to the classic British roast pork, rather than offering porchetta. Regardless I liked this pub and I'd definitely shortlist this place for a good place to check in the summertime, as it also has a secretive and big beer garden. So I'll be back to enjoy that when the weather warms up!

I came here today to have a lovely meal with my partner and was met by a beautiful women, Bridie, who went over and above our expectations for the whole service. I haven’t received such service before in any restaurant I’ve been to and I highly appreciate her making date night a memorable experience. Not only was she looking after us impeccably but she was non stop helping others too which shows how hard working and dedicated she is to her job. The food was delicious also, especially the chicken and potato skewers which was our first time trying (I would highly recommend) Thank you so much Bridie for your lovely service that you provided for us we will definitely be coming back. Thank you

Where to start, second visit in a month, thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt the first time around. was told food may take half hour.to 40 minutes no problem, food arrived an hour after ordering,.and only when I said something as the kids were getting restless. we got some bread and butter to pass the wait.and calm them. one of the kids meals was missing potatoes, so they took that back and sorted, however there was apple sauce on it which he hates, all beef dinners were ordered....so I'm guessing they took off of one of the pork plates.. The lady who took our orders was lovely and professional. like the first time the extra gravy didn't come and I had to ask again, when it came to the the end we settled the bill and the lady, I think American or Canadian who took it to us we let them know what happened with the kids meal as we were ready to leave coats on, wasn't after anything....she said in a passive aggressive tone do you want us to change the potatoes..... TBF was tired but would have challend the service charge if I wasn't because of that..2 tables next to us had not been cleared for the best part of an hour..wasn't a great experience to be honest. The food, beef was good, potatoes not enough for what you are paying for, even by crouch end standards, veg offering could be bolstered up a bit .cauliflower cheese very bland. the stuffing was insulting, tiny portion and tasted processed....do it right and offer a proper portion that tastes good or just take it off the menu, pigs and blankets great...general oraganisation was poor that day, perhaps were understaffed, the place wasnt full, service by staff started great, ruined by one individual at the end. I have worked in the pub game for over a decade, definitely some lessons to be...
