Finally made it to this delightful little bakery in Crouch End. I have been following Sophia on IG and have been wanting to come and try her products for over year. Covid, a move to Devon and a 4 month trip to Canada delayed me but boy am I glad that at long last we made it. From IG you can tell how Sophia is very passionate about her sourdough and it clearly shows in the mouthwatering treats you can sample at her bakery. My husband had the chocolate babka with a wonderful coffee ☕ and I had a fantastic earl grey tea 🫖 with their famed cinnamon cruffin. I can’t say enough about them but wish I had one now - so delicious!! As we were travelling back to Devon by train we could only carry so much - a couple of loaves of sourdough 🥖- the best I have had, a couple of cruffins 🧁- wish I had bought more, the most delicious croissants 🥐 this side of Paris which we gobbled up on the train and a really tasty panettone 😋. As an Italian and as a lover of panettone , I can tell you this was way too good! I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the lovely, friendly staff - thanks to the young man who recommended the Earl Grey as it was delicious. I highly recommend you visit and enjoy - you will not regret it. The only complaint I have is that they are regrettably too far from Dartmouth so I will not be able to visit as much as I would want. I am begging though that they set up monthly subscriptions so I can get my fix delivered to me but the best thing would be for Sophia to set up a satellite shop in Dartmouth - pretty...
Read moreWhere to start? -Queue is never an issue, they know how to manage it very well
-The products are freshly baked every day, brownies and cookies have a good shelf life. Bought them several times to snack when traveling.
-Bread selection is wide and it easily lasts for 4 days. It also freezes very good. Their Oat bread is our favourite.
-Pastries and cakes are the reason to wake up early in the morning. Almond croissants are the most filled you'll ever find in the Country (no joke!), Cruffins are the best thing to eat, followed by the baked cheesecake. Also the Christmas treats were incredible!
-Coffee is consistently good and they take it as seriously as a specialty coffee shop.
-Customer service is something you won't find anywhere else. They're warm and welcoming all the time. They go the extra mile for you without effort. Baking team is very passionate about their work and happy to talk about their products and give you tips for baking.
If you read it this far, don't believe much the lower reviews. People just exaggerate things and look for attention, seen it many times while waiting my turn...
Read moreSo this was the 2nd time myself and partner have had our lunch at Sourdough Sophia. Both times the food was simply outstanding. Howevever I will focus on todays lunch as it is still fresh in my mind.
I had the falafal wrap that came with a lovely side of hummus and I think a nice red cabbage type of coleslaw. My wrap was really stacked and and it was bursting with flavour from the first mouthful to the last. The taste of all the fresh ingredients and the mint youghurt was simply delicious. My partner had the cchicken and bacon ( I think club) sandwich. Her food also came with the delicious sides. She also said her lunch was amazing. We were also given a bottle of water and 2 glasses which is a lovely touch as we didn't really want to have a fruit juice or hot drink (although the menu looks great with these choices) The actual place is rreally nicely decorated. It's the kind of place you instantly feel relaxed and want to eat in. The staff and service is 2nd to none. They're all lovely. I can't rate this place high enough and easily the best lunch we have had...
