After visiting the Bloomsbury site and having a great time we decided to give this one a go as it's closer to home...its amazing how different two sites of the same restaurant can be. We arrived around 7pm on 15th June, when we arrived it was very quiet but it did pick up and was busy by the time we left. Table of 2, ordered 2 drinks, one came immediately and the other we waited over 5 minutes for which isn't a problem but when the place is quiet and you're watching the 2 staff not do much at all, then after a wait make the drink and bring it over it does make you question what was that all about? Ordered the food, food order processed wrong...wanted Mac and Cheese with Chorizo, got regular Mac and Cheese, ordered a chicken burger and chicken strips, on the menu it states it comes with blue cheese sauce, had to ask for this after food was delivered...come on team your menu isn't exactly huge you should know your product and make sure its correct before bringing it to the table, me as a customer should not prompt you to explain there are items missing but should have known as when my partner asked if you had any beer on draft he was met with a confused look and it had to be confirmed that all your beers are actually in cans. When paying the bill I was not asked if I wanted to pay the service charge I was just given the card machine with it already added to the final amount. Service is optional not a necessity and you need to add this into your service cycle to see if customers want to pay it, not just automatically assume its OK to apply, especially when things go wrong with a table. Paid the bill, and left with zero acknowledgement from the team, one of which was actually at the front door and watched us leave. After reading other reviews about this particular site it does seem service is an issue here...wish I had of read them before as it has now put me off going to your restaurants which is a shame because after my first visit to the Bloomsbury site I became such a fan and even planned in more visits to other branches of your restaurants based around plans in Central London, which your Dulwich site has now...
Read moreIt is so rare for me to give a less than great review - we were so disappointed with our experience of the food that was delivered from Meat Liquor, East Dulwich. Why offer vegetarian options if they are so bad?
We ordered the Burgaloo and Tempeh Tantrum (veggie burgers) along with fries and slaw and milkshakes through Deliveroo.
We had originally thought we would get Gourmet Burger but thought we would give this a chance as we hadn’t tried it before.
Sadly it won’t happen again.
The Burgaloo was just tasteless, bland and without flavour. Then as I bit into it I thought there was cardboard in it by mistake - it was the popadum. The patty was just not good, I had two bites but couldn’t bear to eat any more. There was a lot of hot sauce on it but for me that was just covering a tasteless patty. Such a shame, it was so inedible.
The tempeh tantrum was just as bad - again tasteless, strong condiments giving no joy at all and it was hard (like it had been burnt).
The slaw had an odd taste, like there was fat in it - usually this is a refreshing side, but it was so bad that I just had one mouthful and left the rest. The fries were ok, but didn’t make up for the rest of the disappointing food.
We got the milkshakes 30 minutes later as they hadn’t been packed with the rest of the food. They were ok, but again didn’t reach us in time and were ok. Not good enough to order them again though.
The staff we spoke to on the phone about the missing milkshake delivery were kind and very sorry that the milkshakes hadn’t made it to us in our delivery and were quick to offer us other food. They did what they could but we weren’t interested in more food and we said no but they still sent us fries. (That was before we had eaten the food - if that hadn’t been the case I definitely would have said no need.)
I’ve learned my lesson and won’t be ordering anything from this restaurant again - maybe they should just stick to meat? Such a disappointment, and they are not cheap either - nearly £20 for each burger!!! Not...
Read moreVery late to the party when it comes to meat liquor restaurant.
Having been a taxi driver I had dropped off at this place a lot over the years in central London but had always thought it was what it said.....meat and liquor.
We came to the one in Dulwich with 2 family members (daughter and son-in-law) as a thank you and good bye.
Me and my partner as both pescatarian and wasn't sure if we'd have much choice but was pleasantly surprised with our 3 choices.
We decided to share the shroom dog and a mushroom burger so we could better decide if we enjoyed the food and I have to say I thought they was delicious.
We also shared the coleslaw which was really nice and was a shame when it ended.
My partner can't take much heat and so she found the texture of the burger was weird and too spicy for her but I loved it! We both enjoyed the shroom dog.
The others had chicken burger's and spicy fries as they'd been before and knew exactly what they liked.
Me and my partner shared some cheesy chips but I would definitely go for some spicier ones myself next time.
The one thing we all shared and agreed was fantastic was the deep fried pickles (yum!)
I had a cider (nice) while the others had cocktails and alcoholic milkshakes and everyone was happy with them.
The waitress was very helpful and the restaurant was clean and tidy.
All in all we will definitely be returning for some more tasty delicious food and maybe even the 3...
