Moidul's Hampton Wick Tandoori — Restaurant in London

We have had faultless set-meal takeaways regularly from this restaurant since it first opened. Whilst appreciating that menus and prices have to change, last night's tandoori chicken set-meal was a big disappointment.

There was/were: too much salad; two types of sauces in six pots; chicken quantity was somewhat overwhelming and unbalanced by, say, a couple of different side-dishes that would have added to the taste experience (which has always been excellent to date); no poppadoms.

All for a price considerably more than when the two set-meal options were far more tasteful and contained a wider variety of dishes.

A significant step-down in service. We will be pepping up the remains today with some of our own home-cooked Indian food, when previously we would have really enjoyed some more the Moidul offering.

My partner & I live in Kingston and Moidul's is easily one of our favourite restaurants! The food is exceptional - full of flavour, steaming hot and every dish tastes individual, The portions are generous with lovely chunks of meat, fish and vegetables. No horrid fake colourings like many Indian restaurants - this one is truly authentic! The interior is really inviting and we loved the decoration - even the serving dishes/pans are very traditional. My partner had a brandy with desert, which they placed on a brandy stand to warm it up! Staff are also so friendly and create a wonderfully warm atmosphere. I had the utmost pleasure of visiting this esteemed establishment today at 9pm. We were warmly greeted and sat down (group of 9).

We ordered and I kid you not 10 minutes after the starters came out which were delicious. My favourite was the two person mixed grill. The chutneys and the poppadoms were divine.

In terms of the main dish I got a prawn Tawai. I was not expecting the prawn to have the tail on, but I was extremely surprised at the amount of meat that was on the prawn. Super rich and fat pieces. Lovely sauce too. Next time I will get a spicy sauce.

The shop has a very authentic Indian/south Asian vibe.

Can’t fault this. The main man, Moidul, was extremely welcoming and helpful and friendly. Top service...
