It was my 1st visit to South hall to explore the Indian food scene. After countless instagram reels and food bloggers review I decided to try a few spots here. After a long walk checking out most places we settled down on trying Moti Mahal considering there was a good amount of crowd. We tried the pani puri, chole bhature, jalebi and gulab jamun. The pani puri / Golgappe was a 4/5, much better than most other places I have been too. Being a chat liver I have had a terrible experience finding the right quality of puri here in the UK. The chole bhature had high expectations but would rate them a 3.5/5 as I have definitely had better and more authentic ones around. The service was quick, staff were friendly. In deserts we tried the hot jalebi and gulab jamun both a 3.5 again. On a whole this is an average find, i definitely expected a lot more. Maybe will visit again to explore other items like their samosa chat and dahi chat which looked tempting.

We got inside but it seemed not to be very tidy so we left. The restaurant has ground floor and quite a big hall and toilets upstairs. Downstairs there is a huge selection of sweets. Outside they sell fresh Punjabi Samosas and Jalebi. I took both and it was delicious, stuffing and crispiness were on spot. It was the first time I came across such chutney which they added. It was really delicious and unique. Unfortunately the service wasn't nice either in or out. The lady who served us outside was very rude and answered every question as if she was there as a punishment. Because of that my review is going down. It's a shame because the food is really good and if it wasn't for the service I would give at least one star higher.

I had the Aloo tikki chaat as a starter and other half had Pav Bhaji. My food was tasty and had a good selection of chutneys provided. Also the pomegranate seeds was a nice touch. My partner didn’t like her starter she didnt think it matched up to the authentic Indian taste of pav bhaji she is used to. Portions were a decent size so for mains we shared Saag Paneer which was tastier. However my Peshwari naan came burnt thankfully other half’s tandoori roti wasnt burnt. For drinks we had the mango juice which I was happy to see was fresh and not from a carton. I liked that they had water ready as we sat down, but with a bit more attention to detail this place would be amazing.

I had a really bad experience at Moti Mahal. I called and placed an order for a masala dosa 30 minutes in advance, and I reached the restaurant after an hour—more than enough time for the food to be ready. But when I arrived, the staff completely ignored me.

I said “excuse me” at least three times, but no one paid attention. Instead, the staff were standing around gossiping with each other. No professionalism, no basic courtesy. When I finally got their attention, the way they spoke to me was very rude and disrespectful.

This kind of behavior is unacceptable, especially from a restaurant that’s supposed to value its customers. I won’t be coming back, and I don’t recommend it to anyone who expects decent service.

This is not how a restaurant should treat its customers. I strongly request that you take action and improve your customer service. No one deserves this kind of treatment. Please train your staff to be more responsible, attentive,...

Me and my friend ordered maki roti and saag and the roti was hard to the point where my friend couldn’t bite it and she then gave it to me to try and I also couldn’t bite through it. So I told the server and they told the boss who told me I had something wrong with my tooth. So I said is there something wrong with my friends tooth as well and he said that there must be. I then said I know what fresh roti tastes like because I do make it at home. He then told me to make a roti myself in the kitchen and said it would be free of charge if I did. At that point I thought he was joking but he wasn’t. He then told me and my friend to get out of the restaurant. All because of a roti that looked and tasted like it was a couple days old and they had reheated it again. I still paid for the other food consumed and the server at the till apologised for his behaviour but the boss man / manager was so rude to us. Terrible...
