I went to Mrs Chew's yesterday before headed to other shops with a groups of friends. I had ordered the Kung Pao Chicken which was put down as the chefs recommended. The king paso chicken itself was tasy, but nothing too special. It had a soy glaze slightly sweetened with peppers and chicken. It was also served with jasmine rice which complimented the kung pai chicken nicely. The only issue was that I had to wait 30 minutes. My friends who had orders number 18 and 19 had received their food one after another 10 minutes after placing their order: I placed my order at 19:26, order number 20, and watched as numbers ranging from 10 up to 40 were called, suggesting a back log in waiting. The attitude of the staff member who was calling for numbers seemed to be in good nature, however, when asking for if my order had been worked on 20 minutes in, he said if it hasn't been called then it's not ready yet; understandably so, I waited longer. I had finally received my food after pointing it out to them for the third time. Another issue is that my friends who had received their food 20 minutes earlier had almost finished their food, leading for an awkward 10 minutes of me eating and making them wait. I would recommened this place after your activities at Westfield to avoid any disturbances in cade the food is delivered fast, but if you were looking for fast food, I wouldn't come here. The wait had also intervened with my friend's journey home leading him to get home at 1 am rather than the intended 10 30 pm. Overall, this delay caused a significant impact to not just me, but my friends who were waiting for me; it had also delayed our plans for...
Read moreWow this was quite the experience, waited in the queue for half an hour although there was only 4 people in front of me ordering the whole time, the women that was taking the orders was extremely slow and was taking around 10 mins a person to take the order. When it was my turn to order she didn’t understand what I pointed out on the menu 2 times and got it wrong. Nobody explained when or how or where to pick up the food. Just have a round electric thing and a That’s it. Another half an hour of wait and the thing was buzzing I went to the lady to give it back she took it and didn’t tell anything where to pick up the food etc. I was assuming she would have given it, but nothing so a few mins later standing there I asked her is the food coming and she pointed to the back of the kitchen with no words. I went there and got the food after. Again to costumer service no cutlery no explanation no ‘here’s your food enjoy’ nothing. Next it was the food. First of all it was all cold. Second of all it was truly one of the worst Chinese food experiences that I have had. The buns and dumplings Super bland, the sweet chicken was extremely sweet and imposible to eat and had just a few pieces of chicken in it and the rice was an extra on top of the price of the chicken. Overall extremely bad. The queue was huge I honestly felt like telling people that were still queueing to not bother as it is super bad. The queue makes the impression that the food is good but it’s quite the opposite. Besides looking good it has nothing. Ps- also the buns had paper stuck to the bottom of them and we ate 1...
Read moreYou should save your money on this restaurant as you won't get the best experience.
On May 30, my cousins, my brother, my mum and I have all tried food from this place. I ordered myself some chicken fried noodles which costed £11.45. This isn't the best price for a medium-sized portion of noodles.
Although the noodles tasted alright, I didn't like the burnt smell of them. My younger brother ordered the egg fried rice just like my cousins; and he thought it was gross. Also, he described the chicken popcorn as "something that was prepared 15 days ago".
The worst thing about this restaurant was the customer service. There was a grown man named Eric who served my mum, but he was very rude. There was also a woman who I believe is of Indian descent but she could've been nicer. The man who gave me the food on the tray forgot to give me some free utensils which was quite strange.
Overall, I would give this place 2 stars. The food is 3 stars (I liked the popcorn and noodles but neither my cousins nor my brother liked the rice). The customer service is 1 out of 5, and the price? 2 out of 5. The spring rolls are decently priced but the noodles could've been cheaper. And the green V on the menu should be labelled as either vegetarian or vegan so that people don't get confused about which is which.
(Edit 29 October: Had to edit some parts of the review. eric was very rude but I originally said 'a bit rude'. i apologise for...
