Really disappointing experience after many, many years of being a customer. My Mum had been a customer of theirs since they were a business in Kenya and we've never been disappointed with their customer care and food/paan. However, last week I ordered meat samosas and specifically asked for fresh ones as we had guests coming over. I waited in my car for 10 minutes and returned to see the meat samosas that had been sitting out on display and looked over cooked and stale had gone, so I confirmed, my samosas are fresh right? And he point blank lied and handed me my bag and said yes. I went home to discover he had given me the old soggy samosas and they had been warmed up in the microwave. I will not be returning, they charge £1 per samosa, which is small and normally microwaved now - when most places sell samosas that are freshly cooked and three times the size for 75p. There's no denying when their samosas are fresh, they are delicious - but their customer care is now terrible, the man at the front lies and expects customers to be too stupid to know any different. I also had a bad experience the last time I ordered for delivery, half my order was missing but I'd been charged full price - their resolution was, the next time you come in we'll give you the rest of your order - that never happened because they don't remember. Really sad to say, I won't be returning again. Gifto, do amazing meat samosas and they cook them fresh...
Read moreI'm from Kenya, and for the fellow Kenyans, when you think of Nargis, you think of chicken tikka and when you think of that, then you think of Hashmi's or Shabana.. Well you can forget the chicken tikka flavour and visit Nargis!
On the menu I beleive its called chicken bafu, the chicken was cooked to perfection, BUT... it did not in any way shape or form taste anything close to chicken tikka! It didn't taste marinated, it had no flavour other than some sort of spicy sauce which was overpowered by clove flavour poured over the piece of chicken! Shocked, disappointed and confused, I asked the waitress to take it back as I have grown up eating chicken tikka and this tasted nothing like it! Hell, my neighbour John knows the taste of chicken tikka too! I was told I still have to pay for it whether I like it or not!! Wow! Talk about great customer service!
The lamb nyama choma was edible and soft and so were the lamb chops.
The masala chips were another joke, they also looked like they had been tossed in the same sauce which was on the tikka and served!
Passion juice was ok.
That was my first and definitely my last visit! Nargis... do something about your flavours and customer service. It was like giving a dog a stem of celery and telling him it was a bone! The flavours were very far off! And then having to pay for it was even worse considering I had...
Read moreNargis Kapuri Pan has been around for a long time in Southall.
It’s essentially an African inspired eatery that does a number of Kenyan dishes.
The decor’s a little dated and in urgent need of a facelift.
But, as the name indicates, they have a huge selection of pan fillings to choose from following the meal.
It’s certainly apart from the rest of the Indian and Pakistani cuisines dominating this area. So if you’re looking for something different then this might be the place.
Indian/Pakistani cuisine has to either be top-notch or unique to catch our lofty attention. Nargis Kapuri Pan was the latter - unique in terms of flavour.
If you seasoned Indo/Pak restaurateurs want something different from the run-of-the-mill, might wanna try this one.
HEALTH WARNING: Avoid the seats at the far end of the joint (under the TV). Too narrow; only supported half my backside.
And as always, tear our incredibly accurate and astute...
