Nopalito is the kitchen within the Hacha bar space situated in Brixton market. The atmosphere is pleasant with nice music, classy decor and generally bright and positive. The staff was extremely nice and helpful and kept our water refilled.
The cocktail menu is quite eclectic with impressive cocktails. We tried the 'Miles Away' which I found to be a bit too smoky but my partners 'Mirror' was very nice.
We ordered the guacamole as a starter which was excellent. Fresh, light and the totopos are the best I've had - highly recommend this dish. We tried the cochinita, al pastor and crispy Birria tacos. All tacos had a nice quantity of fillings and the quality of ingredients were good. However all the tacos were spicy, which we didn't expect. The cochinita and Al pastor were quite salty and no sauces or extra pineapple were offered to balance the flavour. The crispy Birria was very nice but no melted cheese (fyi). We had the churros for dessert which were very sugary but fresh and good overall.
As with most taco spots in London, we found the prices to be too much for us to want to return. 1 starter, 10 tacos, 1 dessert and 2 drinks for £100...

It basically serves tacos (3 in a box, can add an additional 1 for 2 pounds) but offers a wide variety of choices in their menu. Vegetarian and halal dietary options are available.
I had the birria tacos which contained tender beef seasoned with spices and herbs, lots of basil and coriander as the toppings; with lemon slices for your own use. I loved the texture of the beef because it had both the soft meat and almost-melty tendon wrapped by the tacos. The flavour was wonderful. But do remember to enjoy asap because take out order would mostly make the taco skin too wet.
This order came with a consomme broth that tasted like a thick soup made from a mixture of beef and mutton (not sure about the exact ingredients but this is halal food). Broth was not as clear as I thought but...
Read moreHidden away in a cocktail bar called Hacha, this taco kitchen is absolutely unreal! I recommend the chicken tinga tacos and birria tacos (some of the best birria broth I’ve ever had), and don’t miss out on the jalapeño poppers!! They’re crispy, fresh and soooo delicious. My partner said the fish tacos were also incredible. The service is really quick and friendly, and the place itself has a cool, upbeat-yet-chilled atmosphere. I’d love to come back here and try more of the menu - everything sounded...
