🚇 Archway 🍺 £6.00 Martina Lager
A Superb Backstreet Community Local.
The North Nineteen is located in a quiet residential area sandwiched between Holloway Road and Hornsey Road in Upper Holloway Islington. The nearest Tube is Archway, it’s a ten minute walk to get here.
This pub was originally called The Enterprise, built in 1866. The pub was located close by and was demolished by either regeneration or a WWII bomb. The pub was rebuilt and relocated in the early 1960’s.
This is a two bar pub that is in the main traditionally decorated with some modern touches here and there. The bar at the front is a good size, has a solid wood servery, plenty of seating and a cosy snug at the back. The back bar which is reminiscent of a traditional Public Bar is slightly smaller and has a pool table and a dartboard. For the warmer months there is an outdoor terrace and benches at the front.
The beer selection is a solid mix of familiar keg favourites, Guinness plus beers and cider from local London breweries.I decided on a Martina Lager from North London Czech brewers @bohembrewery . My pint was great, price point was average. No food is served at present.
I visited on a mild Saturday afternoon in January. The pub was fairly quiet with a couple of other punters in attendance. I had a lovely chat with the Landlord and Landlady who were telling me all about their welcoming pub. They also told me about how they have been able to offer a better selection of beers to their loyal customers.
The N19 hosts weekly Open Mic nights and also Comedy nights throughout the month.
The @northnineteen is a superb community boozer with passionate, welcoming and friendly owners at the helm. The beer choice will please most and the environment is that of a backstreet local. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and would definitely recommend a visit.

Read moreNorth Nineteen is a much-loved secret to those that know it. Tucked away between Holloway Road and Hornsey Road, this friendly little pub provides an excellent space in which to waste your afternoon, evening, or even the whole day if you so desire, with good food, friendly and helpful staff, and a relaxed atmosphere. The pub is split into two sections, allowing for large groups who want their own space, or for those who don't want to be in the front bar when the football's on, and has excessive open space, both in th front and back of the premises, if you want to enjoy the sunshine, or puff away to your heat's content.
The food is certainly worth coming for - delicious steaks, sandwiches, and other hearty fare, cooked to perfection, and served quickly. If you're turning up for Sunday lunch, it's a good idea to ring ahead and ask how much they've got left, as latecomers can be disappointed, but frankly it's worth getting down there a little earlier to ensure you can enjoy thick cut slices of meat, delicious vegetables and gravy.
As mentioned before, time at North Nineteen can pass by without you noticing, and before long, Tony and Remy will be turfing you out at the end of a long day, which has nothing to do with the way they keep offering to top up your glass, or finish with a whisky, nossir! A firm favourite, and on my list of one of the, if not the, best...
Read moreWent there with 4 other friends last night. We had the rib-eye steak , an enormous porterhouse steak and BBQ ribs. Let me tell you - the size of the portions is pleasantly surprising. That didn' t mean compromising on the quality of the food though. Steaks were plain awesome - juicy , tender and cooked exactly to your preference. Ribs were really good , too and their handcut chips is a must. Their cask ales are a breath of fresh air from all the usual stuff u get in pubs. And then comes the staff service which was exceptional. The dude behind the bar was constantly attending us and made sure we had everything we needed. Highly...
