5 stars for their gluten free bagels. Simply based on their Smoked Salmon & Chive GF Bagel, and customer service, I've fallen in love with this place. Although I haven't gotten the chance to dine in, it's definitely on my list.
I've ordered from here several times but never got to try their coffee as it's not available for delivery, but I have to say their Gluten Free Bagels are one of the best I've ever had. Because I have an intolerance, I called up the place to ask how their processes were and they informed me that although they have a separate toaster for GF bagels, the bagels themselves are prepared in the same place so there is a risk for cross-contamination. Although my intolerance is pretty severe, they assured me they would try their best to prepare it carefully and thus far my reactions have only been mild.
The reason I give 5 stars to their customer service is because there was a time when I called about allergens, I had said that I was intolerant to chicken eggs as well but wasn't aware that their GF Brownies had egg present. I immediately contacted the store on facebook to ask about this and true enough it did. Although it was partly my fault, they apologised about the brownie and the next time I ordered they offered me the crumble. At the same time, I ordered the soup for my friend and when they recognised my order they used their own initiative to call me up and warn me just incase I had the soup that it wasn't Gluten Free. It was that attention to detail that gives them the 5 star rating. Absolutely wonderful place with...
Read moreI had a deeply disappointing experience at this bagel shop. I stopped in to quickly grab a couple of bagels to take away, but the entire interaction was frustrating and unprofessional. When I asked about the ingredients in a salmon bagel since there were no labels, the staff member told me dismissively explained it was just the different bread but everything was written on the board. When I checked, however, still no clear explanation was there. To make matters worse, she dropped one of the two remaining bagels while packing it. Instead of apologising, she just said, "I dropped it. We'll make another one." Not a single word of apology. She continued packing another bagel without telling anyone to prepare a replacement so I had to ask how long it would take. She vaguely replied '5 minutes" but I was in hurry did not have time to wait. When I expressed my disappointment, she still did not apologise, and another staff member joined in, defending her mistake with a rude tone. The woman who dropped the bagel claimed to be the "MANAGER". When I told her I would speak with the owner, she started shouting something extremely loud in a foreign language as I was leaving, which sounded like it could have been swearing. This behaviour was not only unprofessional but left me feeling humiliated in front of other customers. My family has bought bagels from this shop in the past, but after this experience, I will be advising them not to return. With Such a dismissive, unapologetic attitude and poor customer service, this shop has lost...
Read moreI have had many good quality oat milk cappucinos from here - they're great.
However, the reason for my review is the bagels. THE BAGELS.
N&T provide the best gluten free bagel I have tasted anywhere ever. These GF bagels have the qualities of my sorely missed regular bagel - generously fat, slightly glazed and crispy on the outside, and wonderfully soft and chewy on the inside.
They are a darker brown in colour to the usual, which is presumably something to do with their ingredients, and always come toasted which is fine by me.
Fillings are generous. I have just chowed down on two, one after another. The first with lashings of good cream cheese, sprinkled with spring onion (I think?) and a decent amount of good quality smoked salmon. The second with several chunky slabs of salt beef, thickly sliced pickles and nice smattering of mustard. This last one comes in a box, presumably to catch the overflowing ingredients that will inevitably fall into it.
If you are gluten free and do not want to sacrifice the taste experience of a decent bagel, I highly recommend this option. This is my third one this week...
Pricing is reasonable at between £5-£6.50 for the GF option. You may disagree if you live near Brick Lane but thats a long way to schlep to save a couple of quid for me.
Staff are polite, professional and quick.
Well done...
