My Wife, my son, and I were in London visiting from the United States. We were staying just around the corner at the Hilton and wanted somewhere relatively close to enjoy some good fish and chips. After a short Google search Oli’s fish and chips came up so we decided to head that way on the bus. I am the only one in the family who likes seafood so this was really a trip for me. When we got there, I proceeded to order fish and chips, and asked for two pieces of fish and chips, after which the gentleman told me that one fillet of fish would probably be sufficient, which it was, indeed. The fish was fried to perfection, the fillet itself was very thick and hardy, and probably about 14 inches in length, which was a very delightful surprise. Fortunately they served hamburgers as well. so My Wife was very pleased and so was my son. Since we are from the United States, my wife enjoys mustard on her hamburgers, which apparently is not a normal thing in the UK. Who I am assuming is the owner, Oli himself, a very nice very professional and very friendly gentleman went the extra mile by going to a local market and buying mustard for My Wife. So while the food was excellent, the main reason we will return is for the service. We felt very welcome, and the experience was phenomenal. I could only wish that local merchants in the United States were this friendly and this willing to go that extra mile for their customers. Oli, if you are reading this sir, thank you very much for making it such a great experience, and I told you that I would leave a rave review for you on Google! I wish you...

We came across Oli’s (they are the initials of the 3 daughters’ first names) by chance. Boy, are we glad we did.
The fish is always (I say “always” because I have now been back 4 times on different occasions) fresh and flaky - which is the tell tale sign of good quality. The batter is always light and crispy.
The chips are proper chips. Not fancy double or triple fried, but you might say good honest chips. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside.
You just taste the ingredients are fresh and the oil is golden. No staleness here!
And I am so desperate to eat it when it arrives that I always burn my mouth. Every time!
Oskar is a friendly, generous host. He has a motto on his shirt that says “Arrive as guest and leave as friends!”
He has a lovely assistant, Sam, who is a great front of house. When I see GREAT fish and chips, my brain just no longer function.
If he is not too busy, he is happy to have a chat. However, the queue for his grub doesn’t really disappear for long when more people come by.
He packs the fish and chips nicely if you want to take it away. But I want to eat that there and then!
Just look at the pic. Big portions and very well priced. How can you wait?
Give it a go, you...

I’d come in hoping to grab a fish and chips and possibly even sit down. At initial glance all of their tables were stacked high with boxes.
I’d then made a choice from the menu and it began getting prepared. As one table did not have boxes I’d asked if I could sit.
They said yes, you can eat here. When the food was received, there were a number of bones which made me apprehensive about the rest of the fish. The fish was dry and chips were drier.
When it came to paying they then added a fee for dining in which wasn’t initially clear. They suggested people could always dine in and didn’t take much concern to the stacks of boxes making the dine in area look closed.
I mentioned they should ask if someone is eating in or taking away from the beginning. They said there’s menus on the tables, though I wasn’t sat down and the largest menu on the boards behind the counter was only for takeaway. I was expected to mystically spot the tiny menu pinned to a wall behind one I’d the individuals visiting the restaurant.
There should be a simple clear extra £1 to eat in on the main sign, a question of would you like to eat in or take away or just a clearer expectation.
We ended on a handshake but honestly, I...
