A standard but decent British pub on Goodge Street that could be good if they upped their service.
We came for lunch for a group of 6 people and were seated and attended to promptly. Orders were taken, but took an hour to prepare and bring out. About 30 mins after ordering the waiter comes along and casually says they're busy, the food will be 30/40 mins and that's ok. No apology or anything. After indicating that was not ok and that we all had jobs to get back to they said ok and pretty much ignored us. Food finally came over 30 mins after warning us again with no apology. Though one of the waitresses did seem annoyed at the kitchen. We all ordered a pretty standard array of burgers and sandwiches so nothing complex. Certainly not a place where it should take an hour to serve pub food.
If the service was good this place is 3-4 stars easy. The food was actually decent. Not cheap pub food. I had the cod burger and mac and cheese. The burger was ok the mac and cheese great.
I would come again as this may have been a bad day. But a poor first impression and at least apologise to customers if the kitchen is slammed. I would come and recommend this place when it isn't busy. If you must come for...

It doesnât rely on gimmicks or overstyled interiors, instead, it offers something far more valuable: genuine hospitality and a kitchen that understands comfort done right. I stopped in for breakfast and was instantly struck by the calm, inviting energy of the place. The team here is led by Lucy, the general manager, whose presence radiates warmth and confidence. She runs the show with grace, the kind of leadership you donât always see but can absolutely feel. Freddy looked after me that morning, and his service was exactly what youâd hope for, thoughtful, attentive, and kind without ever hovering. Itâs that rare hospitality that feels human, not rehearsed.
The food itself was simple, satisfying, and cooked with quiet precision. No overcomplication, no fuss, just flavour, balance, and care on a plate. And really, what more can you ask for? In a city where breakfast spots blur together, The One Tun stands apart, not because itâs trying to, but because itâs honest, well-run, and sincerely welcoming. A full five stars, and a genuine recommendation....

I recently visited this pub and had one of the best experiences Iâve had in a long time â all thanks to a gentleman named Fred. From the moment we walked in, Fred made us feel right at home with his warm welcome and genuine friendliness. He went above and beyond to make sure our evening was perfect, recommending drinks, checking in at just the right times, and doing it all with a smile and great sense of humor.
The atmosphere of the pub was cozy and inviting, with a great selection of drinks and hearty food to match. But what truly set this place apart was the outstanding service. Fred is the kind of person who turns a good night into a memorable one â attentive, personable, and clearly passionate about what he does.
If youâre looking for a place with great vibes and even better service, look no further. Ask for Fred â you wonât be...
