Pho Inn — Restaurant in London

Not sure how this place managed to get so many 5 star reviews. I am feeling nice and giving it 2. Absolutely not worthy: overpriced, tiny portions with average flavour.

Vietnamese food is one of my favourites and I know what I’m talking about here. Everything I bought at Pho Inn had already been eaten (and loved) lots of other times somewhere else before.

We ordered to take away and the best item in our bag was the crispy squid (in a broken box with the lid half missing - how thoughtful).

The prawn summer rolls had literally 1 tiny prawn in each, the mango salad was ok-ish, but really nothing special and in the smallest portion ever for a ‘mere’ £8 +. A rip off.

All in all a huge disappointment. It must have been the 5 stars all over the place here who got me all enthusiastic about trying this new ‘hidden gem’ but trust me there are way better Vietnamese spots all over London and even just around the corner.

I am based nearby and wanted to try something new - no way I’ll waste my money here again. So, forget about all the starry reviews, and do yourself a favour. Just a few minutes walk away you will find great Vietnamese options at decent prices with wonderful flavour. Or head to Kingsland road if you feel like going east - so many great spots there. True authentic Vietnamese pho broth, light, fresh and flavourful. We didn’t get an itemised receipt but 1 pho special and 1 chicken pho with 2 corona beers = under £31 all up at dinner. Probably not the place for a romantic date but for a no frill experience with good natured food, I’d come back.

I was born in Hanoi so that’s the flavour profile I’m accustomed to, it might be different if you’re used to the Southern style of Western countries like I’ve had in the US and Australia then it might be a bit different to the norm so beware of that aspect. Got the Pho dac biet, where the broth was good but didn't have bean sprouts which is essential in Pho and none of the usual fixings. Not worth

Then they had the audacity to overcharge me for my meal. A pho, spring rolls, and a beer should have been 23.5 quid and charged me 30. Avoid
