Over the years we have used pitta Maria on a regular basis. Sadly finding that it no longer is meeting our expectations. It has gone from 5 to 3 to a 1 star.
5/23 it appeared fresh I had the befitiki wrap for the first time. partner found some of the chicken was burnt to a crisp in his wrap. My wrap was burnt around the edges also some brown bits/edges in the lettuce. The sauce again was sharp garlic. We like garlic but find this not palatable. It will be the last time we order for the foreseeable future. It used to be great, but seems it is going down hill. Dissatisfied and disappointed. Found that the chips is filling out the order. Ie less meat and all chips.
2/23 We had an Uber delivery. We have had delivery here a few times. It has been consistent until today. Portions were large - yet we found less meat in them - substituted by chips, lettuce & tomato (super thinly cut) loads of raw onion and the tzatziki sauce was overpowered by sharp garlic - never had this before. We like garlic, but this has left us with a lasting garlic aftertaste for the night. 2 stars taken off from my previous review.
We will order again I just hope it was a one off.(no longer...
Read moreMy father and I had a gyros each from here today and loved them.
My father is from Mainland Greece and I grew up in Crete, so I know the real deal in terms of a well-made gyro. The pitta is nice and doughy, the tzatziki is strong, but not overwhelming, the meat is perfectly seasoned and flavoured with lemon and herbs and the chips/fries are pretty good as well. The lady that runs it with some of her family is from one of the Aegean islands in Greece and super-friendly and swift in terms of service.
Two gyros and a couple of soft drinks cost about £11, which is great value for money.
There are a couple of other decent places to get gyros in Oakwood ("Yia Souvlaki", round the corner from the tube station) and also Kingston Upon Thames town center "The Souvlaki"), but it's great to know that I don't have to trek over an hour across opposite ends of London for a decent bit...
Read morePros: -Best fries in London, -Could be the best beef patties (bifteki) in London if they did not burn them. Cons: -The beef patties are burned 9 out of 10 times, and/or their (charcoaled) grill surface does not appear to be cleaned regularly. The beef patties are nearly always charcoal black, badly burned, tasting bitter, unrecognizable as food.
(If you cut out the exterior burned part, then the interior tastes good, but you are throwing away half the meal. I do not know why they keep burning the food so badly every time. It is such a waste of good food and reputation.)
@Pitta Maria: Please clean your grill and replace the grill handler. If I wanted to eat coal I...
