We arrived for my brothers Birthday to be told quite curtly that we were too early and there was no space to sit as all the tables were booked. After returning at the proper time we were then told we couldn't sit at the allocated table as one of our party wasn't able to make it. Despite expressing a wish to stay where we were we were still told to move. After this the service was curt and at times plain rude. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated with a healthy energy about the place, and I was impressed by the fresh take on South Indian food on the menu. The starters were mixed - the vegetarian streets snacks lacked interest but the mutton chop was delicious and well cooked. When the mains arrived I had ordered the squid, which was nice but halfway started to remind me of barbecue sauce. I tried the lamb Nagore and that was really tasty. Price wise I felt it was too expensive for what we got. Not extortionate but I got the impression that I could easily get an equally good if not better meal for less money somewhere else (Raza, Tayyab's in East London). It felt like Indian food at English prices. On the plus side the pappadoms were good and we had a lovely time with each other despite the negative points. I felt disappointed as Ganapati had been talked up so much. Not awful but Im in no...

The food here was great! Very tasty, filling and generous portions. Plenty of vegetarian options and suitable for vegans too. I can't complain about the food nor the female server, she was very friendly and cheerful. However, the man that served us was unnecessarily rude and rather entitled. We repeated our order several times despite him literally telling us what we 'should' order. It literally felt like he was telling us what we should eat and how much despite us four being very happy with what we wanted to order. Despite making it very clear what we wanted and then him writing it down (or so we thought), he got our order wrong and blamed it on us! We all heard my bf ordering his main, repeating it several times, and yet the waiter did not write it down and did not apologise until my bf decided to just stick with the starter he had eaten. We no longer felt comfortable being there so asked for the bill before going on our way. It was such an odd, rude, and uncomfortable experience. I do hope this was a one off. Once again, food was lovely but this male server was...

Came here for a meal with family visiting from Miami. Some good and many bad. The food lacked basic Indian flavour. Watery dhal and curry lamb should be avoided. And adding spinach leaf to dhal is shocking as it really showed lack of cooking with so many amazing Indian food around.

The grill chicken tho was nicely spiced - looked beyond basic on the plate. The dosa - a huge disappointment. Dare I say it tasted as it was made and then heated up. The potato was excellent tho and the samba was delicious.

The onion bhajin wascrispy and fresh -shame I can't say the same for the chutney served with it. The beetroot dish is excellent and so to was the white wine from New Zealand.

All in all - the one thing I can't forgive is not having a fan or two in the restaurant. They are quite cheap!!!! Many people love this place, but I feel, it's more hype that how good the food it. It's a welcome

Service was ok definitely nothing special and the place could do with a lick of fresh paint.

I was excited and plated the food up nicely but that just was one of the highlight...

Coming from Malaysia we get good South Indian food almost anywhere and anytime. Having also been to India , South Indian food in Malaysia is pretty top notch. This place, Ganapati is as good as what we get back home and what is the norm in India. The masala thosai was perfection. The potato masala within the thosai was sublime. The chutneys were excellent, I wiped my plate clean. The prawn curry was flavorful, don’t worry it’s not spicy so it’s suitable for those that have a milder palate( I personally would have some chopped some chili into it haha). The masala chai had balance of the spices and it was lovely to taste the cardamom and clove. The Onion spinach bhaji is the most authentic you’d get here, crunchy , not so oily, perfect batter and the minty chutney accompaniment ties the flavor nicely into a sweet bow. I would certainly come again to get my South Indian fix. However do call and make a reservation.. my friend and I were lucky we could walk in and get a table.
