🚇Limehouse 🍺 £5.10 Amstel ❤️ A superb backstreet E14 boozer. . The Prince Regent is located in a quiet backstreet on the northern edge of Limehouse. The nearest Tube is Limehouse DLR which is a five minute walk to get here. . This pub has a history dating back over two hundred years, the current building probably dates from the 1930’s. This area used to have literally a pub on every corner, opposite the pub was The Rose & Crown which is now converted to residential use. . The decor here almost has a country pub feel to it with its Tudor beams and brass and copper pots hanging from the ceiling. At the centre of the pub is the servery which looks quite modern compared to the rest of the pub. Around the walls are black and white photos of boxers, there is also a picture of a disheveled Alan Brazil. There are a few TV’s which show live sport, if you fancy playing a few tunes there is a Wurlitzer style jukebox. . The beer line up was straightforward with no cask available. After of bit of deliberation we decided on pints of Amstel, our pints were decent, well kept and cost just over a fiver. This pub doesn’t serve food but there is plenty of bar snacks to choose from. . The atmosphere on this Saturday afternoon was buzzing and upbeat, the pub was busy with a local crowd in for a few afternoon scoops. The soundtrack was superb, there was a mix of soul, ska and reggae classics playing which set a nice tone. The service here was great, the lady who served us was welcoming and personable. . The Prince Regent is a cracking East London pub and a reminder of when pubs were pubs back in the day. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 28.05.23

A wonderful East end backstreet pub, tucked away on the northern edge of Limehouse but easy to reach from the DLR station. A loyal band of regulars add to the welcoming, friendly atmosphere. The beer is great but, perhaps not the best destination if you are after a selection of Cask Ales (there are none as far as I can see). There are however kegs aimed to keep the beer drinker happy. Great lad behind the bar today with kind words for all his customers. A most enjoyable stop on a drinking life.

Cracking pub, recently re-opened. They've achieved the rare find of maintaining bags of character whilst updating the interior - no sanded tables and souless tat here, it's all good stuff. No cask ales yet, but the staff assured they would be stocked in the coming months. Very reasonably priced, lovely staff, ambient classic jazz music and an adorable pub cat too.
