Unfortunately it was my first time at Priory cafe and the customer service was very poor. I had bought food for myself and my friend also bought food for herself. We had brought pack lunches for the kids as they both have allergies and are on the spectrum and like particular food. We had not see the sign that says not to bring food from outside. We were all eating when we were approached by a staff member, she said that we cannot bring outside food. I explained that the adults had bought food and that the children have allergies. She said I should bring proof of their allergies. I later explained that I had felt uncomfortable with the fact I would need to bring proof of the childrens allegies. From there the conversation escalated and the male staff member was very rude and not understanding at all! How sad , it is not easy to go out with the little ones and to receive such customer service was highly disappointing. The male also showed rudeness by speaking in another language which I could not comprehend but could get the impression it wasn’t kind. I understand they have rules, but I just feel there was no...
Read moreWas told off by the furious older woman owner for moving an orange chair into a shaded area, we’d bought ice cream and drinks and only moved the chair into the shade because it was way too hot to sit exposed. I have spent a lot of money in this place with my kids and now view the syrupy mock friendliness when buying things as totally fake. I’d seen it before when we once shared a bench with another random family who had brought a few bits of packed lunch and were put through the ringer by the other bloke who runs it, this happened when they brought my order of 30 quid chips and skimpy cheese toasties, yet they raged at all of us? I get it is frustrating dealing with hordes of Crouch End mummy’s, I know because I used to have to deal with them myself but it’s just so much more reasonable to take a deep breath and communicate with respect and firmness instead of straight up anger, this is clearly a massive earner in the summer and all it takes to not lose customers is some self control and tact. They make great...
Read moreI would give no stars if that was an option, as the owner has some serious issues! I asked if we could move the table in the shade as we were with two 1 year olds, and was told in a rather rude way that we must purchase something. I work in the industry, so understand that bums on seats brings the dough, but there's a way to communicate this. We intended to purchase drinks/food, but as its only cash purchase, we couldn't since we only had cards. When leaving, the woman rushed out to say: you have to take the table back and since you didn't buy anything, you're not welcome back. Being with friends, children and my girlfriend, I stopped myself from saying my mind. How are they still in business??? There's a couple of courses the owner should attend; anger management, and customer service 101. Typically the type of person who should never work in the...
