Really excellent; I'm on holiday in London and have eaten three F&C in the past week and this was the best (even compared to Poppies in Camden). The fish is fresh and succulent and was fried to order so was crisp and light. The chips are perfect - crispy outsides and soft centres - i don't know what variety of potato they use but it tastes great. I had a lunch special cod & chips which was a very generous portion and a can of Tango for £11.20 which is great value for a sit down meal (compare Poppies @£19.00 for a small haddock and chips). My new fave London chippy. The proprietor is very friendly and welcoming as well.

Would not be caught eating here again. I feel like the level of care a place has to have to sell you a microwaveable pie, still in a plastic wrap for 500% of the price you could buy it next door at Sainsbury’s is just depressing. The chips were cold, the pie was cheap microwaveable crap, they hadn’t even bothered to unwrap, and the mushy peas are bang average. I would recommend anyone thinking of eating here to look elsewhere.

Fish was over cooked looked like oil had seeped into the batter. the fish inside was dry. The batter wasn't any better on the other side ! I used to like this place but this is the 2nd time I have had a problem. Last time I waited over an hour when I was given 25 - 35 mins time for arrival. The food was warm when it arrived.

Food was very good but absolutely horrible attitude of one staff member (female) really put my friend and myself off this place. Pity to have a place with such good food in Balham - where we live - ruined by the extremely unprofessional and, frankly, creepy attitude of one immature and rather oddly behaved member of staff. Hope she finds a new job far away soon. Brought poor attitude of staff member to manager's attention, and he was very nice, but person should have apologised to my friend and myself as we had been nothing but nice and polite only to be met with the most atrocious attitude I have ever experienced in London, where I have lived for 22 years. In the end our meal should have been offered to us for free given the staff member's behaviour towards us. Very poor show that there was no apology from the member of staff and no offer from the management of a discount on our meal given the appalling...

5% long chips, 5% medium length chips, 90% short stubby ends. I like chips to be long and not the short left over 'style' type. Chips I got were nothing like in the photos shown. Sadly I won't be going here again.

Also, I watched the lady behind the counter cough into her hand and not wash her hand. I saw her moments before picking chips out of a plate with her hands just before serving to a seated customer. God knows if she handled people's food with her coughed in hand afterwards.

It doesn't bode well that the man uses his hand to open up the paper bag to put chips into. What happened to styrofoam containers or cardboard containers to put chips into that don't require people's hands to touch the interior where our...
