One word to describe my experience - miserable! I've only given two stars instead of one because my friend enjoyed his meal. I didn't. For starters (pun unintended) it's not authentic Turkish. The servers are clueless about Turkish food and the mezze were out of a packet and forgettable. My friend enjoyed his kebab selection but my halloumi 'skewer' wasn't even chargrilled much less had it been anywhere near a skewer. It looked and tasted fried and was dry and lukewarm. They claim to have a vegetarian selection but when I asked about the 'vegetable skewer' I was told that's not a skewer at all but some sort of 'stew' meaning they couldn't add halloumi to it as I had requested. So don't describe food as being on a skewer which implies it's chargrilled when it's not!
The service was perfunctory (the waiters are Indian and polite but not very attentive) and they forgot part of our order and had to be reminded. But worst of all, it was absolutely freezing in the restaurant. I've never been so cold while eating that my teeth were chattering even with my coat on! When I said how cold I was the waiter said 'it's very cold outside' - which it was, but I was INSIDE and expected to be warm there! They had obviously turned the heating off after other dinners left leaving us sitting in the cold. We asked for cups of tea to warm us up but they don't offer that.
The whole experience was disappointing (and expensive!) which is a shame as it's very local to me and I had high hopes it would become a regular based on the slew of great reviews. Guess you can't go wrong with a bog standard kebab but the devil is in the detail and for me that missed the mark. Won't be going back or...
Read moreAppalling service. We contacted this place as it had good reviews and asked for a delivery but they recommended we order via dekiveroo. The price on the menu was £28 for the mix platter for 2 but on deliveroo it was £36 plus fees which brought the total upto £40. I called them after placing the order asking for extra sauce and they said they already give enough. The food got here at a decent time but I notice as I get back in my hotel room that the sauce was tipped all over the food and was nor packaged properly. I called and complained and asked for this to be replaced as I struggle to eat food that is dry and for 40 quid you expect decent service but they just shrugged me off and said it's not their problem it's the drivers fault. But if you run a business and you know drivers for uber or deliveroo are unreliable then use your own drivers. You are the business and must look after your customers. After arguing about it for a while the food had gotten cold and we eventually ate it. The chicken was fine but the lamb was very chewy giving me jaw cramp. The bread was very hard so we avoided eating it. Its a shame because the food tasted well enough but I'm just shocked by the attitude and standard of the service. Its supposed to be a meal fpr 2 but there was more salad than food. £40 down the drain. Don't order from here unless you don't mind...

Shishlique delivers exactly what it promises - quality, fresh produce that is cooked well. I love a proper charcoal grill and it is used expertly here. The meat is smoky on the outside, but juicy and tender inside. Two of us shared the platter for 1, and it was a generous amount of food. Everything from the rice to the salads, along with the slightly charry bread were brilliant. We did order a baba ghannouj on the side and found that a little underwhelming though - it lacked smoky flavour but I'm prepared to overlook that as the rest of the food was so good.
The store is clean and tidy, perfectly fine for eat in, but I think I'm leaning towards getting...
