Snowflake, a chain of luxury gelato branches around London recently launched Billionaireâs Soft Serve, the âmost expensive ice-creamâ in England for ÂŁ99 a cone at Selfridges.
The icecream replicates our childhood 99er flake but instead uses the finest Persian blue salted caramel, 24 carrot gold leaf decorations and weighs as much as 350g!
Giving this one a miss, I decided to head down to their Soho branch instead. As I entered their parlour that had a clean crisp feel to it, there was a wide variety of flavours to choose from. The gelatos are all handmade and use organic Jersey milk from a family farm in Somerset. I ordered the Popcorn flavour on a cone. It tasted rather bland and lacked the necessary decadence a first-class gelato would normally have. So I decided to try another flavour hoping this time it would be better. I ordered the Amarena which is vanilla with cherries. Again, it did not live up to the expectations of âluxuryâ gelato.
They have other treats on the menu like waffles, sundaes and crepes but after having eaten their gelato I wonât be going back. With a small icecream at ÂŁ3.50, a medium one at ÂŁ4.50 and a large at ÂŁ5.50, prices are on the high side. Snowflake need to do more than just sell...

We tried almost everything at Snowflake - gelatos, ice cream cones, etc. But what I crave and want to highlight is their fruit/gelato dessert. These are unique to Snowflake from what Iâve seen. There are several different varieties, from mango to strawberry to a chocolate Dubai gelato pop. They each look like the flavor of gelato (ie the mango looks like a little mango). Of course, I was very suspicious because of this. Thought they might be âcheesyâ - maybe too sweet. But they were one of the most delicious and refreshing desserts Iâve ever had.
I discovered Snowflake and these desserts last year. I turned my family onto them and we couldnât wait to get back to the SoHo Hotel to get one (Snowflake is a few feet from the hotelâs entrance). Iâve been here for a week and Iâve had no less than 2 each night weâve been in back in London.
Snowflake is open till 12:30am on weekends. 11:00pm other days. Any night, youâll find Asad with a smile on his face ready to serve you one of these fruit gelato desserts or a more traditional item if youâd prefer. Asad is...
Read moreI would give no stars if i could! First time i visited here with my husband and 2 year old son. We had to keep our son seated in his pram as they had no highchairs for children. Asian man who works there decided to come and try to move my pram whilst my child was sitting inside to accommodate 3 other customers although there was a table available on the side with 3 chairs. This made me feel so frustrated, he has no right to come and touch my pram considering my son was eating with us and we are also paying customers. Worst thing is that my son looked very uncomfortable while he was trying to shove the pram! You donât just come and shove someone elseâs pram to accommodate seats without politely asking for permission. I did address this with him but he was very defensive. Also, ordered mint tea and tasted horrible. Waffle was very dry, only thing i liked was the salted caramel ice cream. Husband ordered coffee which did not even taste right but appreciate the staff changed it although they argued that it was supposed to taste that way. Never going back here again! Rude, inconsiderate staff...
