Kind of sorry to give a below avg review but there are a few things I don't think were managed well and need an improvements in my opinion. The place was nice, cozy but not posh. Food was good, I liked the beetroot hummus as well as the scotch egg. Meat was tender and cooked properly. Service and set up did not meet my expectation though
(1) The service is definitely something that requires more effort: we went in yesterday night, and walked to a table at 9:15. The restaurants was not busy, a few people at tables with the overall impression that everybody had already ordered their meal if not consumed. After 20 minutes still nobody had taken our orders or spoken to us. We had to stop the waiter asking if he had any intention to take our orders or not. Quite disappointing. We asked for some tap water which was brought with a bottle however nobody ever stopped to check if we still had water left, in fact we had to ask for more after a while we finished it. Last, when we got our steak served, after the appetisers, the waiter realised we did not have fork and knife on the table. I was charged for the discretionally service however if I had the opportunity I wouldn't have tipped this time.
(2) Menu is not what you expect from a steakhouse but more what you find in a pub. When you read it it makes you feel you won't get anything different from the pub on the other side of the road. Also, wine list should be built stronger and according to the type and quality of food: for example a Primitivo from Abbruzzo is not really what you expect if you want to have a good Primitivo wine.
(3) The feeling is that the price was too high 60£ per person for a shared T-bone, 1 appetiser & 1 salad and 1 glass of wine each. I'd probably have felt more comfortable with...
Read moreI am writing to express my profound frustration and disappointment with my Sunday lunch at Sophie's on Fulham Road. I went to your restaurant that night with high expectations. Not only were my expectations not exceeded, they were not met.
My concerns revolve around two primary areas, dish preparation and service.
Regarding the former, on that particular night, the food was not up to your name. As for the latter, one of your waitress, African lady wearing glasses, made a huge mistake.
First, I was at least as surprised to find several problems with the food itself, harder to understand even on a busy lunch time. The amuse bouche of Egg Royale was rubbery and yolk was fully cooked - it was even hardly boiled. I thought that Egg Royale is a kind of Egg Benedict, isn't it? Also my french fries was very oily and not crispy as to be difficult to eat. Why not make an issue during the meal? Simple. I wanted to preserve what I could of the lunch.
Secondly, one of their waitress dropped my fork when she was cleaning our table and mayonaise and sause on that fork ruiend my dress. I also saw she dropped fork and knif of the table besides me and apologised a customer. She brought few napkins but my dress already had stains with oil from mayonaise and sauce.
Finally, this place was so packed with mums and their babies. I could hear bell sound played by babies, their crying and yelling around me during my whole times at there. I was not able to focus on both food and conversation.
Even though the service and the food was so awful, after I paid a bill with my card, my boy friend left a tip when we left a table. Why? Because he also didn't want to ruin my special day-my Birthday.
We certainly didn’t expect one at your restaurant featuring 2...
Read moreI came here to eat with my friend two nights ago, was really looking forward to it. I arrived and had a cocktail on my own, which was perfectly nice, pricey, but not beyond what you'd expect for the Kings Road. We were then seated, by a nice waitress who was brunette. I asked if I could charge my phone, and she said that was fine and took it behind the bar.
We ordered food, and my mussels arrived with grit, in a completely tasteless sauce which could have been milk, and lukewarm. The waitress also at this point changed, to a tall woman with short blonde hair, who LITERALLY eye-rolled and huffed when we asked to order anything. She looked me up and down numerous times judging my attire, and was even whispering to a male member of staff about my friend and I, quite obviously. When we went out for a cigarette, and I asked to borrow some matches, the bartender said to this blonde waitress, 'See, I told you they weren't going out to smoke a spliff'.
When the meal ended, I did not complain about the terrible food, I asked as politely to have my phone back. The blonde waitress LITERALLY rolled her eyes into the back of her head, looked me up and down and said 'ughhhhh', then stormed off. I literally felt like crying I felt so judged, like I must have worn the wrong clothes to the restaurant or something. When she returned it, she slammed it down and it had not been put onto charge at all, just left behind the bar.
I really feel like for the enormous price the bill came to, I should not have left feeling judged, not good enough for the establishment, accused of doing drugs which I would not dream of doing, and looked down upon. I really...
