The Queens 📍26 Broadway Parade, London N8 9DE 🚇Hornsey The Queens is located in the bustling heart of Crouch End close to local landmark The Clock Tower. The nearest station is Hornsey mainline. This grand public house was built between 1898–1902 as The Queens Hotel. The Salisbury in Harringay which has similarly grand, was built by the same Victorian developer, John Cathles Hill. The Queens features in one of my favourite London gangster film’s, Love Honour and Obey. Once you walk through the impressive corner entrance you arrive into a magnificent bar that is full of original period features. At the centre of the bar is an ornate island servery with detailed wood panelling and a curved counter. The main bar area is divided into four sections with a dining area and an open kitchen at the rear. Everywhere you look around this palatial pub you’ll see beautiful Art Nouveau stained glass, attractive intricate plasterwork, and swathes of dark wood panelling. The beer selection will please most with a choice of mainstream beers, London brewers and three cask ales. I decided on an Amstel, my pint was great, price point was average at £5.80. The food menu is classic British pub grub, Fish & Chips is priced at £17.50. We arrived at 12pm on a sweltering hot Saturday lunchtime in August. The pub had a few punters in the main bar and a good crowd in the courtyard beer garden. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed, whilst we sat enjoying our pints, the topic of conversation was all about the majesty of this pub. The service was welcoming and pleasant. Across London there are many iconic Victorian structures, none more so than the Victorian built London Pub. The @queenscrouchend is at the pinnacle of Victorian pub architecture and decorative design and is also a great place for a pint. We loved our time here and would definitely recommend you visit. 📅 17th August 2024 More London Pub Info @londonpubmap 🍻

Update 9/12/2 Festive meal, nice take by the fireplace. Ordered from Festive menu, traditional turkey with all trimmings, belly pork, veal pie, dessert sticky toffee pudding Fantastic service! Update on 24/9/22 Lunch with a friend, birthday drinks too. Ordered the Chicken, ham and leek pie, our server said if you're a fan of pasty, then this is for you, well it was, it was absolutely delicious. The pastry was fresh, crunchy, the chicken was succulent and the tarragon sauce was too die for. Only slight drawback was the ham and couldn't really taste the leeks. But overall we reallt enjoyed it, my plate was clean!!! Just a note on the ladies toilets, seems they are refurbishing, so they've incorporated the ladies with the disabled loo (just the one toilet). Not sure how long this will be for... But the ladies are accessed through the mens main toilet door....if you're confused, go and see for yourself 😅 We also sat in the beer garden, nice and warm with those outdoor heaters... 👍 Arrived around 6ish for drinks and dinner. Ordered lime soda spritzer with fish and chips (£11.50). Staff were polite and friendly. Good food options on the menu, whereas the drinks menu was on another level. The fish didn't smell very fresh, batter was hard yet crispy, but the double, triple cooked chips were blooming amazing!!! Told them I didn't eat peas, and they were happy to swap for a side salad. Very accommodating indeed. Good atmosphere, but at times, staff were too busy chatting to the kitchen staff, had to wait a while for them to finish and notice us. Would visit again!

This is a great pub... Lovely atmosphere. Great interior. Good service. Nice food served in the restaurant and by the bar. You have two separate menus, but you can also order from the restaurant menu on the other side. If going for a Sunday roast, best to book ahead as you might be disappointed, or have to wait until much later in the evening. The bar has a good selection of beers and spirits. The wines are also decent. Coffee and tea also served. The food is good. Not great, but good. Some dishes are really nice. With reference to Sunday risdt, Yorkshire puddings are usually over cooked, and horseradish sauce too wet, taking away from that lovely heat you get from horseradish. The vegloaf could do with more seasoning. The beef and pork roast are more often than not quite good. Again everything just lacks a little on the seasoning, but nothing which cannot be rendered yourself with the sauces and salt and pepper. Roast potatoes crispy and veg cooked okay. Overall, this pub is recommended when including everything together. Service, food, drinks selection, atmosphere, interior/decoration. Dogs welcome. Good for both large and small groups. Cosy corners, if you can get one. Great for dates and to hang out on your own or with a friend.

The Queen's Pub N8: A Gastropub Gem in Crouch End

The Queen's Pub N8, located in Crouch End, offers a delightful blend of Victorian charm, modern gastro pub fare, and a welcoming atmosphere. Here's a closer look to see if it's the perfect spot for your next pub visit:

Ambiance:

Victorian Grandeur: Originally built as a hotel, The Queen's boasts grand features like high ceilings, ornate plasterwork, and a glistening open kitchen. Multiple Seating Options: Choose from cosy nooks for a more intimate gathering, a spot at the central bar for a lively atmosphere, or the elegant dining room for a special occasion [SquareMeal review]. Outdoor Space: A beautiful garden provides a charming escape during warmer months [The Crouch End Knowledge blog].

Food and Drink:

Modern Gastropub Fare: The menu goes beyond typical pub grub. Expect delicious dishes like ham hock terrine, partridge with wilted gem lettuce, and Cumberland sausages with red onion gravy [SquareMeal review]. They also offer Euro-inspired options and cater to dietary restrictions with vegetarian choices. Real Ales and Craft Beers: The Queen's boasts a selection of real ales from independent breweries alongside crowd-pleasing wines and a "wicked wines" offer featuring discounted bottles each week [SquareMeal review].

Additional Perks:

Friendly and Knowledgeable Staff: Reviews mention the staff is helpful and attentive, making your visit enjoyable [Tripadvisor reviews]. Family-Friendly: While the atmosphere might be more suited for adults in the evenings, the pub welcomes families during the day, with highchairs available.

Things to Consider:

Potentially Pricey: Be prepared for gastropub prices, which might be a bit higher than typical pub fare. Reservations Recommended: The Queen's can get busy, especially on weekends, so booking a table in advance is recommended [Tripadvisor reviews].

Overall:

The Queen's Pub N8 is a fantastic option for those seeking a delicious meal in a beautiful Victorian setting. The diverse menu, friendly service, and charming atmosphere make it a great place to relax and enjoy a memorable pub experience. Just keep in mind the potentially higher prices and consider booking a table in advance, especially...
