Tai Brockley — Restaurant in London

A goldfish bowl. Whilst we enjoyed the restaurant and the owner it is flawed so far as a dining experience goes. This was due to the delivery riders who hung out outside the restaurant, framed in the window, and looking in at us as we ate. It was a bizarre and a truly uncomfortable experience. The 'Just Eat' and "Uber" delivery riders also seem to get precendence on takeaway fast-track. Meaning some of our dishes were late in coming and mine was cold as a result. This though was countered by not just an apology from the lovely owner, but the charge being removed from the bill. This was much appreciated , howeverr, I would have preferred to have a hot meal and less helmeted faces at the window. Added to which the waitress was constantly up-selling on alcoholic drinks, having said no to this repeatedly. I think though the main issue for this establishment will be the take-away versus sit downs. Clearly the former dominates on what could have been an enjoyable evening. So we won't be back, unless this is sorted. It is a shame because on pricing and generous food on the plate, it beats the now outrageously overpriced and small portion The Orchard. So,...

We checked the reviews before visiting and saw there were some less-than-favourable ones and sadly they were proven totally right! The 'restaurant' is more a delivery service so it is like sitting in the middle of an airport with a constant stream of wait-staff and delivery drivers. The door was opened every 5 seconds and therefore the restaurant was cold and the atmosphere terrible. The table hadn't even been cleaned before we sat there so it was laid up but with chunks of residual food from previous guests. The staff didn't seem at all bothered by our experience and totally focused on the takeaways so the service in the actual restaurant was appalling and our empty plates left until our next course came out. Really lovely spot for food and staff are absolutely amazing. I've done collection online from here maybe 8-10 times and unfortunately on about 2 of those occasions they had received my order and have collected my food within 5 minutes, the other times they have said they hadn't received my order and to take a seat and they will make it straight away. A bit inconvenient but the food is always really fresh and it never takes long. It's just something I've noticed. Food and flavour is 10/10 and the portion sizes are just right. Eating in is always a nice experience too and everyone always has a smile on their face. Would really recommend anything with the tofu in it, the flavour and texture is brilliant.
