The shop is in Soho which is easy to find. The atmosphere isn’t romantic that is more cozy feeling. Seat is tight and no place for bag and clothes hacking. Besides these things, the food is nice and lots of choices. We one three dishes🍱🍤🍣 Chicken Katsu Bento £19 They serve with Minos soup, it tastes normal at the beginning, when it is cool down, it becomes very salty, that I can’t finish it. The sashimi are nice and rich and sushi is large. The amount of chicken katsu are massive that they have two layer! I can’t finish by myself. Takoyaki £8.5 It’s a bit expensive but I will say it’s worth it. Takoyaki outside is crispy and inside is soft, combining with the source. I must say that you must order it when you visit this shop. Mixed sushi £17.5 All sushi are nice and fresh. The salmon roll is big and whole big piece of salmon.

24/5/24- Friday. I rarely give back reviews to the restaurant. My interest in helping people who see my posts. This is the worst Japanese restaurant I have ever been to. 1st, the waiter, in my post. The way he served customers is. He could not come to the door where the sign said. Wait to be seated. He just raised his hand and waved at me. Like calling a dog. Disgusting service. I walked up to him. I told him a table for ONE person. He told me that the restaurant is fully booked and that there were several empty tables for 2 people. I told him. I am ordering a lot of several dishes therefore I need a small table to sit in. He instructed me to sit at the bar table with high chair where being a 67 year old lady, Petite size to climb on the high stool. Seriously? I know my spending for a meal would be more than 2 people's meals as I like food tasty whenever I go for a meal. I insisted on having a table, explaining to this waiter again. He showed me to a corner just next to the bar where drinks were made and dirty dishes collected to the bar. With all the culinary noises. I took the seat comfortably and didn't want to make a fuss. He brings the menu. Before I can even open the menu. He took out a pen and his order book. Asking me what would I like to order. I say, to him in a polite way. Please could you give me a minute to see what your menu got to order me the taste of Japanese food. He walked away with a very rude, angry face. I feel his assumption of me eating cheap food. I was not very happy at this time. Later, I called the lady to take my order. When it comes to the receipt. I was very disappointed that the receipt was not properly itemised. When I insisted and asked the waiter ( another waiter ) twice. He came back with the scribbled ordered receipt. The food is not cheap either. I can get a better, fresher sushi from the Japanese centre/market just 5 minutes walk from this restaurant. The food, especially the sashimi. The eels will so badly sliced and presented. It just put off my appetite. The california handroll. ( see from my post ) was so plain, and simply play on the dushe that a piece of the california roll was litteraly falling out the plate, touching the table🤮. I would never, ever recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are better Japanese restaurants just walking distance from this restaurant. I spent £69.10 which I shouldn't pay for service charge. But I pay without a fuss.

Taro Japanese restaurant in Soho is a great place to go for a casual meal with friends, family, or event done alone. The restaurant has a warm and welcoming dining space, and the menu features a wide variety of Japanese dishes, including ramen, sushi, and noodles. I recently had the opportunity to try Taro for myself where I was sat at the counter overlooking all the chefs at work (much to my delight), and I was very impressed with the quality of the food. I ordered the sushi set dish, and the sushi was also excellent, with fresh, flavourful fish and rice. In addition to the food, Taro also has a great atmosphere. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant has a relaxed, casual feel. Overall, I highly recommend Taro Japanese restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and affordable meal in Soho.

We came on a Friday night and the service wasn't great especially when they made me wait for more than 15 minutes for a table and gave walk in seats to other couples before. The food was also average and nothing to rave on about. Between the two of us, we shared the salmon sashimi (salmon didn't seem that fresh), tempura prawn rolls and spicy tuna rolls (way too much rice on both), seaweed salad (more lettuce than seaweed), chicken karaage, takoyaki, agedashi tofu (all average at best), miso soup and whole grilled eel (eel was decent but had too much sauce on it and the rice that came with it was very wet and covered in way too much sauce). It also cost £43 each with no alcohol so I don't see as good value for the quality. Also the tables are uncomfortably close to each other.

The food was exceptional and arrived very quickly. Our booking was for 7pm, the restaurant was absolutely heaving at this point (which is a good sign that the restaurant is popular!) but I think they could have had 10 less people in the restaurant so it’s not too crammed and there’s still space to manoeuvre around, as I was tucked away into a corner I couldn’t get to the toilet easily, as well as so many people being in there it was hard to hear my groups conversation and that was quite annoying. My chicken ramen was delicious and my friends meals that included tofu dishes, vegetable curries and bento boxes looked very tasty. Would definitely come here for food again 😋🍜 but perhaps at a quieter time.

I come here for the way they make their Terriyaki chicken bento ( Chicken Teri Don) Crispy chicken on a layer of bean sprouts and other vegetables, on top of rice. Covered with a delicious terriyaki sauce. The crispy texture is fantastic exactly what I am after to bring interest to the rest of the soft ingredients. Authetic? arguably may not be but I wouldnt have it any other way. Thru also have a spicy version but have not tried it. The prawn gyoza was good too. No crispy bottom but it didnt need it when eaten with the crispy chicken in the Terriyaki. Was sat at the bar as I was by myself this time and can get a little crowded there. Lots of action to watch in the kitchen.
