I am an avid patron of the Asparagus Battersea - have been for some time. I remember the first time I planted my foot inside the establishment it sent a whistling breeze down my spine. I knew that second, things would never be the same again.

As soon as you pass under those famous golden letters your heart rate increases to match the excitement and buzz that flows through the pub’s open, tastefully decorated spaces. The fresh aroma of £2 pints mixes perfectly with the hearty mist from the internationally acclaimed Chicken Breast Bites. Now, in most places that pride themselves on value for money, you’d expect quality of service to leave something to be desired - Not in the Asparagus. The Asparagus app allows you to order gallons of well-priced booze which is carried, often precariously, by the battle-hardened staff straight to your table. No matter the situation they will be sure to serve your table with a beaming smile on their faces, and quite often will mistakenly offer free pints – bonus!

I would compare the atmosphere to that of a room full of children, just breaking up for their summer holidays. Everywhere you turn there is smiles on faces and froth on lips. The quality of conversation around the place is second to none, and the numerous seating areas means you'll never get bored. You think you've got your bearings in the place, but then, as if by witchcraft, as you wander past the beautiful carpeted staircase that leads to the well-groomed washroom facilities, you will come across a large set of doors. As if this place couldn’t get any more perfect, these doors open up into one of the most wonderful, well-located beer gardens you are ever likely to witness in and around the South-West London area, possibly the world.

I can’t ever see myself ever finding a more perfect place to drink pints and make memories. It will always have a place in my heart.

Best wishes, 1 of many happy...

Ah, this pub—a quintessential slice of British charm, where tradition meets comfort. The warm glow of the chandeliers bathes the room in a golden light, and the polished wooden table stands proudly, almost as if it knows it’s part of something timeless. The beer looks immaculate, each pint poured with the kind of precision that suggests the staff take pride in their craft. It’s the kind of place you’d happily lose an afternoon, soaking in the atmosphere and letting the world outside fade away.

But then, there are them. Four men, staring just a little too intently at the centre of the scene, like figures from a story you’d rather not be told. There’s something about them—something slightly off, as though they’ve wandered in from a place far removed from the pub’s welcoming embrace. Denim Jacket stares just a little too intently, his expression unreadable, as though he’s weighing up decisions no one else in the room could possibly understand. Red Jumper tries to smile, but it feels forced, like he’s trying to mask the kind of thoughts you wouldn’t want to ask about.

Then there’s Puffer Jacket, with his hands in his pockets like he’s hiding something—or waiting for the right moment to act. And Plaid Shirt? He’s the most unsettling of all, not because he seems out of place, but because he blends in so well. He could be anyone, anywhere, unnoticed until it’s too late.

It’s hard to say why they’re here or what their purpose is, but one thing is certain: they’re not just having a quiet drink. You get the feeling that as soon as you leave the pub, their presence will linger in your thoughts. Four men, drinking together in the warm light of a beautiful pub—but why does it feel like they’ve brought the...

I'm just leaving here a bad review although I stressing that the service is always really good in that pub. I normaly go some afternoons after work to have some food and send some e-mails and drink a couple of pints, knowing that is normaly busy I wait my time in the door for a low table. Yesterday afternoon the host had me waiting for over half an hour at the door but didn't really show much willingness on giving me a low table, she told me I had to wait for that, and kept bringing people in. So I waited hungry on there, till after long time she decided to offer me just a high table, I was so hungry so I accepted although I don't really feel comfortable on those ones. Ordered my food, and there was some low tables available and noone waiting for them so I asked again and been refused meaning that I was waiting more than half an hour at the door for nothing as she didn't have the willigness to give any low-table in the pub. That situation dissapointed me, it is not fair that you wait for nothing, if you don't give low-tables to sole visitants as a policy you may as well tell it straightaway so we don't have to wait for nothing. It is a pity cause after all these months having to work from home (and the months to come) I liked the idea of finishing with a pint and a meal in my local pub. Despite all of this I really appreciate the treatment I've got from all the staff, really helpful and smiley, they always made me feel good, such a nice little vibe they...

I don't know of many places where there's a 'Spoons at each end of the same road, but this pub is at 1 Falcon Road, and the London and South Western is at the other end, on the corner of Lavender Hill. Although not for much longer, as the Asparagus is one of 30 pubs to be axed, which is a shame as it's a nice pub. I visited around 11am to get a late breakfast and went in through the Falcon Road entrance, and there is another on Battersea Park Road. The interior is a rectangle, and has a garden area on Falcon Road. It seemed comfortable, with the tables spaced well so it wouldn't get too crowded. See if you can spot the Battersea Power Station drawing. As for the breakfast, well, it's the consistent quality you get at all Wetherspoons. I had a hankering for some black pudding and mushrooms, and there are now a few ways of ordering this: the 'Mushroom Benedict' for £4.50 has 2 X egg Benedict, each on a muffin with a mushroom, and so adding a side of 2 black puddings costs £1.25 (total £5.75). or there's the 'Miners Benedict' which has 2 X egg Benedict, each on a muffin with a black pudding, for £4.50, and so adding an extra 2 mushrooms cost 75p (total £5.25). OK, 50p saving might not seem much, but that's almost a 1/5th the cost of a pint of Doom Bar in this pub!

I really like the name of this lovely pub. Good location. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff. The food is really good. Restrooms are upstairs and a handicapped restroom is downstairs. There is a step free entrance for those with mobility issues. It was really busy when we were there. A member of the bar staff really stood out. Kelly was amazing. She worked extremely hard serving, clearing tables, sweeping broken glass, taking care of customers' needs. She was very attentive and she was always on the go. She always had a smile on her face and was always polite. She is a real gem. Make a point to tell her how much you appreciate her hard work.
