Please buy a dishwasher if that’s what’s needed for you to offer real plates and real cutlery for people eating in. The experience of eating off a paper plate with a wooden fork is not nice, feels like you’re at a children’s party, iced coffee in a take away cup too. Doesn’t seem worth the money if you want to sit in, definitely better to go somewhere else for a nicer experience. Service was also socially awkward and slow by the young staff and to top it off the cake was dry but that should have been expected as most items are just out in the open air on display. This place has potential, but best to take away and order early in the morning so that the baked good are fresher and not slowly turning stale as the hours pass.

Came here for brunch today and was blown away. We had an croissant, pain au chocolat, coffee (flat white and cappuccino - the latter was nice and frothy), salad and the Turkish eggs (pictured). The eggs were probably the best eggs I've had in London - poached eggs with Greek yoghurt, garlic and paprika. The flavours work so well together and the eggs were cooked to perfection (runny yolk). Plus the bread was crunchy and the ideal dipping material! The service was great (shout out to the chill waiter), they have seating outside and a cosy upstairs section too. All the pastries looked so delicious and the only shame is that this place is so far away from where we live! Definitely recommend.

The absolute best customer service, food is delicious, and the portion sizes are extremely filling. I ordered a giant cinnamon bun with a side of bacon and said to my husband, I wish I had some maple syrup (we were seated outside)... and then someone appeared as if by magic and said here's some maple syrup, we thought you might like some! Can't wish for more than that! :)

Great coffee, breads, pastries and tosties (cheese and pickle is the one to go for, excellent hang over cure). Nice atmosphere, particularly upstairs where you get a view of the street below, big communal bench seating and the sun streaming through the windows.

Criticism would be the service for food, which can be very up and down depending on the staff they have on. I have had my order missed twice which I had to go downstairs and ask for, as has my partner. Certain staff feel so relaxed and nonchalant it can be annoying when you're waiting for something. I get that it's a relaxed café, but there's a balance. Also, cutlery isn't clean enough and neither are the 'help yourself' water glasses, which were just gross last time with dust and what can only be described as 'bits' in the bottom.

Overall, this place can either be a 4.5⭐ or a 3⭐, so I've given them the benefit of the doubt. Your best experience would probably be with a nice coffee and a cake that you dont need to wait for and that you can eat...

So disappointing. I'd found reviews raving about the place so made a point of popping in for a little treat. The pistachio croissant sounded and looked lovely but was so disappointing (soggy and flavourless) that, after a couple of bites, I brought it back with the intention of buying something else. The extremely kind lady didn't charge me for the almond croissant I chose as a replacement, but unfortunately it too was so disappointing that I didn't finish that either. My accomplice chose a sweet potato, spinach roll thingy and she was also unimpressed with the lack of flavour. The service and ambience are faultless but, because they are a bakery, my advice is to look elsewhere for your baked treats, especially at their eye watering prices. Ps, I've lived in France and worked in patisseries so I speak with some authority on...

A good friend of mine lives nearby and chose to do the function there for his little boy’s christening; he could not have made a better choice!

We were given a cosy room upstairs, enough to fit about 20 people, and were offered top notch baked goods (would highly recommend any of their delicious quiches), as well as drinks and coffees which we ordered upon arrival. The staff were very attentive and super prompt in getting us anything we asked for and the owner made us feel right at home, while ensuring everything was going as planned. All in all everything went super smooth and could not have been happier with the service and the quality of the food.

Putney residents are very lucky having The Bakehouse around and anyone who hasn’t been there already, make sure you...
